Nicki Minaj, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom And More To React To Sha’Carri Richardson’s Loss To Jamaican Trio
Trinidadian-born rapper, Nicki Minaj and Dancehall starlets Shenseea and Jada Kingdom were amongst some of the entertainers who took to social media to congratulate the Jamaican female sprinters for their sweeping victory in the 100 metres at the 2021 Prefontaine Classic. In their posts, some of the entertainers also shaded American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, who placed last in the very anticipated 100m race.
Sha’Carri Richardson, who by failing her drug test for a banned substance found in marijuana was disqualified from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in late June but was announced as a part of the lineup for the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League. The supposedly competitive lineup saw Richardson up against the Jamaican Olympic 4×100 women sprinters, double-double Olympic champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, most decorated female sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Olympic bronze medallist, Shericka Jackson and the 19-year-old, Briana Williams.
The anticipated 100m definitely did not leave Jamaicans disappointed, as the golden girls gave a 1-2-3 sweep again. In 10.54 seconds, Elaine Thompson-Herah blazed across the finish line setting a new personal best, national record, Diamond league record and the second-fastest time ever. Following in second place was Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with a time of 10.73 seconds and Shericka Jackson in third with a personal best of 10.76 seconds. Fellow Jamaican, Briana Williams placed eighth with a time of 11.09 seconds.
While Jamaicans were overjoyed with our women’s dominance, they were also in disbelief and shock at Sha’Carri Richardson finishing last with a time of 11.14 seconds. This shock was not hidden by Jamaican Twitter with the words “DEAD LAST” trending immediately post-race and with entertainers seemingly shading the very vocal American sprinter.
Nicki Minaj, who had previously shaded Richardson when the Jamaican women swept the 100 metres at Tokyo 2020 Olympics came back to her Instagram story with the same energy. Nicki wrote, “Yasssss Goodie!!!!!” adding the Jamaican flag. Continuing in another post the Super Bass singer simply posted the broom emoji, signifying the sweep by the Jamaicans.
A more vocal Jada Kingdom not only posted the Jamaican flags in her Instagram story but also wrote in one story “It’s Quiet!!! 1,2,3” and then added, “If she had good sportsmanship wi wudda lowe har! But since shi suh rawse bitter! Watch tek set! too hype man, humble yu self.”
Run Run singer, Shenseea adding to the mix, not only congratulated Thompson-Herah, Fraser-Pryce and Jackson, but also shaded Sha’Carri, writing, “LMFAOO BUMBOCL—T!!! Mi gyal dem fi we mouth never make fi run!!!”
Dancehall singer Ce’Cile retweeted a Nike ad featuring Richardson and wrote, “Yall needed an ad with the actual winner….. #sad”.

Though Richardson’s immediate post-race interview was rather heated, she came back composed and congratulated the ‘women who won’.
Richardson also withdrew from the 200m.
