Black Mattic Releases Lyrical New Single ‘Four’ Ahead Of New Album
Dancehall artist Black Mattic has released a new single titled Four. The lyrically potent song is one of the lead tracks off his upcoming new 20 track album which is slated to be released in the latter part of this year.
According to Black Mattic he is ready to take his rightful place at the helm of dancehall. “I am the difference dancehall needs at this time and I say that without apology,” he said. “The musical standard in dancehall needs to be maintained and to be frank the benchmark that the likes of Sean Paul, Shaggy, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man collectively set over the years is not being maintained by the current crop of so called hot artistes. I will change that.”
The Waterhouse native, who currently resides in the United States, wears many hats including being a venture capitalist, deejay, producer and songwriter but says being a recording artist is the most important area of focus.
Having already tasted international success in 2016 when he topped the British Virgin Charts with a 10 track Album and again in 2019 when charted in Europe and Korea respectively, Black Mattic says he knows what the international market wants out of Jamaica musically.
“The lyrical content, choice of topics, imaging and the business structure elements of our local scene are limiting factors which are repelling the growth and consistent international placement for our genre,” he said. “We need to fix this by first admitting to ourselves that these areas must be fixed as well as actually highlighting the talents that have the potential to be global stars instead of over hyping mediocrity.”
Currently, Black Mattic is busy in the studio, adding the finishing touches to his new 20 track album slated to be released in December 2021.
