No Second Week Sales Bump For Vybz Kartel, Spice

After debuting new albums at No. 6 and No. 9 last week, the undisputed Queen of Dancehall Spice and the reputed King Of Dancehall Vybz Kartel have fallen out of the Top 10 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart this week.

Spice’s debut album, 10, which was released by VP Records on August 6, picked up 84 more copies from album sales and 649 units total consumption from sales and streaming in the United States during its second week of release, according to data provided to DancehallMag by Billboard’s sales tracker, MRC Data.   10’s streaming activity during the second week — which saw the release of new visuals for the single Send It Up — includes 624,620 audio streams and 138,489 video streams in the US.

Vybz Kartel’s Born Fi Dis album, which was jointly released by Aiko Pon Di Beat, Vybz Kartel Muzik, and Short Boss Muzik on August 6, picked up an additional 62 copies from album sales and 411 units in total consumption from sales and streaming in the US, during its second week of release.  Born Fi Dis’ streaming activity in the US during its second week, included 436,635 audio streams and 70,614 video streams.

Reggae legends Bob Marley & The Wailers are No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for the 85th consecutive week, with Legend — a greatest hits collection first released in May 1984 by Island Records.   The now 15x Multi-Platinum compilation moved 11,151 total units from sales and streaming in the US last week, including 2,478 copies in album sales.

Shaggy’s Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is at No. 2, followed by Jason Mraz’s Love For The Good at No. 3. American band Stick Figure is at No. 4 this week with their World On Fire album, while UB-40’s Greatest Hits is at No. 5.

At No. 6 is Stick Figure again with Set In Stone, followed by Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection at No. 7, Rebelution’s Live At Red Rocks at No. 8, Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock at No. 9.

Boston-based Reggae Rock band, The Elovaters, made their debut on the Billboard Reggae Album chart this week at No. 10 with their new album Castles.

Meanwhile, in Jamaica, Intence’s Yahoo Boyz remains the No. 1 song for the fifth consecutive week, according to YouTube’s Music Charts & Insights.  The success of the banger and its ‘Rifle Bounce’ dance has prompted the deejay’s father and manager Stephen “Fada Axe” Gabiddon to call out those not ‘giving credit where credit is due’.

Mankind by Silk Boss is currently at No. 2, followed by Dancehall newcomer 450’s Journey at No. 3.  Shenseea’s second single off her debut album, Be Good, is at No. 4.

At No. 5 is 450 again with his breakthrough song Imperfection, followed Rytikal’s Chosen at No. 6.  Squash is at No. 7 with a new track called Racketeer.

Street Cred by Skeng is No. 8, followed by Laa Lee’s Dirt Bounce at No. 9 and Send It Up by Spice at No. 10.
