Skillibeng’s About To Drop ‘Crocodile Teeth’ The Album
Dancehall starboy Skillibeng, after seeing new levels of success with the remixes of his Crocodile Teeth song, has prepared Crocodile Teeth the album.
According to Instagram posts shared today by Johnny Wonder and Adde Instrumentals—producers of the 2020 smash hit—the Crocodile Teeth album is now complete. Though a tracklist or release date has not been revealed, the album announcement alone is enough to get fans anxious and anticipating.
Sharing a picture of himself, Skillibeng and crew, Johnny Wonder captioned his post, “This is what a finished album looks like.”
After sharing the group photo taken at his studio, Johnny Wonder and Adde both shared what could be the album cover—a crocodile with jaws wide open showcasing its ‘bullet’ fangs.
Wonder, whose career in the industry spans 30 years, wrote in his caption, “Loading…..” while Adde confirmed,”‘Crocodile Teeth’ the album finished 🙏🐊”.
In May, while promising that he had more music from Skillibeng on the way, Johnny Wonder told the Gleaner that “I am just not in a rush to put stuff out. I do things [at] the right time, and they always connect.”
“I wait until everything is perfect, and so whatever I put out is quality. That’s why whenever artistes come out, they always come to me. They know that Johnny Wonder will get them where they need to go,” he said.
That month, the hit gunplay track has received much acclaim after being remixed by Barbz Queen, Nicki Minaj and was a part of her Beam Me Up Scotty Mixtape. The remix peaked at No. 100 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart soon after release on May 14.
Crocodile Teeth was also remixed by controversial R&B singer Tory Lanez, UK rapper Youngs Teflon, and NY rapper Bobby Shmurda, who has not yet released his version. The song was also recently freestyled on Hot 97 by Dancehall starlet Shenseea, who was criticized by Wonder after she failed to credit Skillibeng in a subsequent interview.
The Mr. Universe deejay has continued to live up to his lyrics. After giving us a 35-track mixtape on Christmas Eve, in celebration of his birthday, The Prodigy, he again gifted us with The Prodigy: Ladies Only Edition in May 2021, a 21-track album. The Prodigy featured hit songs and crazy collabs such as Not with Street Gena, F.S, Quenga and 1 Sparkes, Bin Laden with Tommy Lee Sparta, Pree with Popcaan, among others. The Prodigy: Ladies Only Edition included controversial songs like Sloppy, Chappa Gyal with Honey Milan, and Real Boss—a team-up with rappers Rich The Kid and Jay Critch.
Meanwhile, 10 months after its release, Crocodile Teeth is cruising at 26 million views on YouTube and will likely appear on the new body of work as the title track.
Skilli’s latest releases are SoSo Badniss and Internet War, both distributed by Wonder.
