Joining Dynasty Records’ My Letter To You Riddim is the ambitious and passionate, Yaksta Bush Lawd with his new single See And Know. The almost four-minute-long theatrical music video is accompanied by Yaksta’s usual deep and thoughtful lyrics.

The My Letter To You Riddim already boasts hit singles and fan favourites with Rytikal’s Chosen, Squash’s Rate Who Rate You and Chronic Law Boss’ Believe in Yourself.  With the newest addition being See And Know, all of the songs have one thing in common, their message.

They all offer a contemplative, soulful recollection of each artists’ life and the message behind their struggle. Whether it be Rytikal’s brooding on his purpose, Squash’s thoughtful reminder to rate who rate you or even Chronic Law’s meditative affirmations, the riddim has provided fans with soulful letters to their hearts. Joining these letters is Yaksta’s See And Know.

Opening See And Know with a meaningful message, Yaksta declares, “Yuh see me? Me proud a me / Me alone never dweet, Suh mi proud a mi team / Mi nah guh mek a bwoy or a girl define what I am / yuh nah go use my past and come gwaan like yuh want derail or defame me / mi strong mi powerful yuh hear dat / a mi name Bush Lawd, president yzt”

Yaksta continues to the chorus rather lamenting that only Jah knows the pain he carries inside. Being honest to supporters, Yaksta admits that just to remain positive is a challenge in these times but he draws on memories of laughter and hope and even prayer to soothe over his soul.

With theatrical face paintings, candles, a wounded Yaksta standing in front of a hangman’s noose, the video immediately draws viewers in and enables them to feel the pain that Yaksta laments about in the chorus. Holding a gun to his head, Yaksta has contemplated it all, however, he continues to tread the journey of life but not before being attacked by seeming powers. The video comes full circle, drawing on Biblical allusion, when Yaksta jumps into the river, the dove is released and Yaksta emerges. A baptism of sorts.

Following his breakout single Ambition, Yaksta has proven himself to be a conscious crooner of Reggae music, popularizing the unpopular, and making the unseemly trendy. In Ambition, he argues the purposiveness of materialistic wealth that are not true assets but rather liability. This led to his next single Assets (Fowl Coop) where he gives tips on starting small businesses and investments.

Six months since the release of Ambition and it has amassed 7.4 million views on YouTube.
