“Serious Times” Producer Dale Virgo Contemplating Adding Vaccine Mandate For Studio Sessions

Music producer Dale Virgo says he is considering implementing a policy at his studio, where all artists and others who want to enter, must present evidence that they have been vaccinated.

Virgo, who has worked with numerous superstars including Rihanna, Drake, Sean Kingston and Amy Winehouse in the past, made the declaration on Thursday on his Twitter and Instagram pages.

“I may add a vaccine mandate to do sessions with me at my studio.   Show your vaccine passport or card.   These are some serious times. Wha unno seh?” the Serious Times producer wrote.

On Instagram, he was supported by Devin di Dakta as well as Ce’Cile, who has already declared weeks ago, that she had been fully vaccinated since July and would be banning unvaccinated people from her house, as she was asthmatic.

“Is your studio dizzle. U can do what u want,” she wrote, to which Virgo responded: “@badgyalcecile fi real. Nuff artiste I see come studio and act like covid nah gwaan. So I have to protect my space… Nuff people who a disagree nah book anyways, even if there was no mandate. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.”

Devin di Dakta, who has been advocating for his Instagram followers to get vaccinated, also did the same in response to Virgo’s statements.

“YEESSSS DR DIZZLE. SAME SUH #ɢᴇᴛᴠᴀᴄᴄɪɴᴀᴛᴇᴅ,” he wrote.

One follower heymanzana sought to dissuade the … producer from implementing his plans arguing that it would be unlawful for him to deny unvaccinated people access.

“No, because it’s actually against the law and 2, vaccinated ppl still transfer and plenty have died anyways and that is from real life experience. Ppl just go along with what the crowd said to do,” he argued.

However, Virgo said that he would not be deterred.

“@heymanzana me have my laws. I govern my endz. Is just a decision I had to take,” he replied on the now-deleted Instagram post.

Virgo who professes to be an adherent to the Rastafarian faith’s decisiveness is a far cry from that of his fellow music producer and self-proclaimed atheist Cordel “Skatta” Burrell, who told his IG followers a few days ago that he was still ‘sitting on the fence’.

Skatta posted a meme about what his response to persons will be, if he is asked whether or not he will take the vaccine, which featured the lines “mi nuh know” from a song, as his response.

“At Dis Point mi Juss a hold out to see if the Day of Praying weh gwaan last week work,” Skatta, who recently recovered from a bout of the COVID-19 virus wrote, in a seeming attempt to fluster his Christian followers.

The Reggae Sumfest promoter has, since his recovery, been urging   Jamaicans to take precautions and follow the requisite protocols to protect themselves. Prior to that, Skatta had noted days before that COVID-19 was “real and very, very dangerous” and that while many people have had minimal to no side effects and overcame the virus in a matter of days, he “wasn’t that fortunate”.
