Nicki Minaj, Shenseea May Soon Have The Same Manager
Dancehall pop star Shenseea may soon be sharing her management team with Hip Hop superstar Nicki Minaj.
According to an exclusive from Variety Magazine today, the No Frauds rapper “is in negotiations with SALXCO, the management company headed by Wassim ‘Sal’ Slaiby, for representation. Sources told Variety that Minaj split from Irving Azoff at Full Stop Management earlier this year.
Shenseea, whose recent collaborations with Kanye West, Pure Souls and Ok Ok climbed the Billboard charts, has been making several industry event appearances since announcing her new manager Sal, who also currently manages Doja Cat, P. Diddy and The Weeknd.
In the past few weeks, she performed on Rolling Loud Miami, Hot 97 Summer Jam, and was seen on the stage with Kanye West at his listening party in Chicago. She was, however, noticeably absent from more recent high-level industry events like the MTV Video Music Awards, although her new stablemate, Doja Cat, attended the show.
Shenseea and Minaj share a Caribbean heritage and are inadvertently signed to Universal Music Group: Shenseea, 24, via Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records and Minaj, 38, via Cash Money/Republic Records.
The Trinidad-born rapper’s platinum singles as a lead artist include Super Bass, Fly, Starships, Your Love, Moment 4 Life, Pound the Alarm, Bang Bang, Anaconda, Only, and Motorsport. She has previously collaborated with Dancehall artists Beenie Man, Mavado, Stylo G, Skillibeng, and Vybz Kartel.
When asked whether she would work with Shenseea or Spice, during a Twitter Space last week, Minaj said “let’s see what happens” and instead indicated that she would like to work with Intence after seeing his interviews and hearing his music.
Both Shenseea and Minaj are expected to release albums and go on tour in the coming months.
