Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s Wife Says He’ll Live On Forever Through His Music
“Lee Scratch Perry is not dead, he is only in a state of transformation…He exists beyond his body and lives on in his music in our hearts forever!đđ˝,” Mireille Perry, the wife of Reggae legend Lee âScratchâ Perry, said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The post comes as Perry is featured in a new song titled Holy Dub by Canadian metal band New Age Doom which was released yesterday. The song is part of the band’s 6 track collaborative project with the Reggae legend titled Lee âScratchâ Perryâs Guide to the Universe, which was announced just weeks before his death.
Holy Dub follows the lead single Life Is An Experiment , and the entire project will be released via We Are Busy Bodies on November 5.
Sly & Robbie and Roots Radics have also released a follow-up to their Grammy-nominated The Final Battle, titled The Dub Battle that features Perry on two tracks, among other recently departed reggae dub legends, according to a release.
“Taking the concept of pairing some of the greatest roots artists with some of the genreâs most beloved Dub artists adds a new dimension to the legacy of the artists involved. In what has become a posthumous release in many ways, too many have passed since the inception of this project several years ago,” the release said. “This epitaph to the careers of Toots Hibbert, Lee âScratchâ Perry, and Bunny âStrikerâ Lee. These recently departed legendary dub artists join in the enduring sounds of unreleased 70âs productions from Osbourne Ruddock aka King Tubby, who contributes to the project more than 30 years after his untimely demise.”
Released on September 10, Sly & Robbie vs. Roots Radics: The Dub Battle is available on streaming platforms.
In her Instagram post yesterday, Mrs. Perry then veered off on a tangent that hinted at some greater underlying truth behind Perry’s sudden death.
“One more thing, Lee was standing for the truth! He would be absolutely disappointed if I wouldnât raise my voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice! He would want that the truth comes out! This is not a conspiracy like some speculate, there are facts,” she continued.
Perry died on August 29 at the Western Jamaica hospital at the age of 85, reportedly from an undisclosed illness. Mireille had been married to Perry for over three decades. Perry is survived by his wife, and two children from his marriage to her.
The star, who performed and worked alongside fellow Jamaican Bob Marley, also had four children from previous relationships: Cleopatra, Marsha, Omar and Marvin
She pleaded with fans regarding the lack of information on the singer’s funeral arrangements.
“Please also understand, everything in Jamaica takes longer and I will come with more informations as soon as it becomes possible.
