Tanya Stephens Orders Followers To Stop ‘Calling-Up’ Barrington Levy’s Name: “Mi Know Him When Mi Old”
Tanya Stephens sounded a warning on Friday, when she ordered social media followers to stop slandering one of Jamaica’s musical legends under her posts, as she had she has only known him since she became an “old woman”.
Ever since she described in detail to Shannon Mack two weeks ago, the physical makeup of the Reggae artist whom she said raped her 30 years ago when she was 17, speculations have been swirling around on her own Instagram page and on YouTube, about who the perpetrator could be.
But on Friday evening, the Rebelution artist declared that she was fed up with what she termed the incessant gossiping, and pointed out that many of the commenters were making nuisances of themselves and slandering others.
“And by di way, stop f-ck around Barrington Levy und mi ting dem, becaw mi meet Barrington Levy when mi ole!” Tanya declared.
“Mi nuh know him when mi likkle. Lef di man alone!” she added.
Sparing no punches, she continued: “Mi nuh know if him do nuttn else but him nuh do me nuttn, suh oonu f_ck off and lef him.
“Stop di guessing game unda people ting. Mi tired aa oonu. If a nuh one or two time him manager come to me a ask mi if mi can meck a statement please becaw people a – oonu lef di man alone! Weh di bomboclaat oonu nuh guh watch oonu daddy weh a f-k oonu?” the seemingly exasperated artist exclaimed.
Tanya also had some scathing words for persons she claimed were were “wanna-be journalists”, radio broadcasters, and bloggers.
“Mi have a lot a people from radio now a tell me seh mi fi tell dem a which artiste suh dem can stop play him. Oonu teck mi fi eediat, don’t? Oonu teck mi fi eedit, caw oonu did stop play di odda rapist dem, right? Or a ongle my own oonu want stop play? Who oonu teck fieediat?” she said.
“Mi have one journalist weh brazen enough fi come send email a talk bout I need an interview. Yuh don’t need no bloodclaat interview. Go interview tuff foot dem,” she said.
Stephens also castigated a YouTuber whom she said had disrespected Shannon, after sharing the video interview and not tagging the interviewer when asked, and then going on to insult her.
She then went on to say that the media people who were hounding her were not interested in highlighting sexual violence, but wanted ‘cass-cass’.
“Look inna oonu own life. Mi know fi a fact seh oonu naw highlight sexual violence, becaw it deh yah; it naw hide. Oonu put on blinkers and walk past it. Di only reason why oonu give a f_ck bout mine a because of my stature. Dats di reason why oonu a run een. Oonu teck mi fi eediat. None oonu naw get no bloodclaat likes off mi oonu f_ck off,” Tanya continued.
“Suh if you want suppm fi talk bout, go and do some real journalism for a change. Otherwise stick to road broadcast man. Stick to outside broadcast and guh gimmicks out. Gimmicks out and meck people laugh afta you as a clown.”
“Match up to yuh intellect. Don’t go above yuh pay grade. Low mi.”
