Padrino Covers Gregory Isaacs’ Classic ‘Stranger In Town’: Watch

Bahamian-born recording artist and producer Padrino may be a modern entertainer, but he has the soul of an OG.  His music takes inspiration from the greats in R&B, Soul, Reggae, and Dancehall, and an example of that was his recently released Right Here, which taps into US R&B group SWV’s Right Here from 1992.  Now, he has tapped Jamaican icon Gregory Isaacs for his latest single.

Covering the Cool Ruler’s 1982 hit Stranger In Town, Padrino channels the late Lovers’ Rock crooner with a smooth delivery. Issacs’ Stranger In Town was featured on his classic album, Night Nurse, which was released through his own African Museum label along with Island Records’ US-based Mango imprint.

The Night Nurse album recently received a Silver Certification in the UK, almost 40 years after its release.

Born Rory Bowe in The Bahamas, Padrino grew up on the sounds of R&B, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, and Pop, and has listened to everyone from Bob Marley to 4 Non-Blondes. As a producer and songwriter he has worked with the likes of Popcaan, Rocko, Fat Joe, Elephant Man, and Christoper Martin, and as a recording artist, he has released singles like All For You, Thorn In A Rose with Mula, Brighter Days with Monty G, and Battlefield among others.
