Silk Boss’ ‘Geet Weh’ And 14 New Songs For Your Dancehall Playlist

It was an exciting week in Dancehall, Skillibeng treated fans to a new album with visuals for two tracks. So did Denyque in her new visuals for Champion. Then Vybz Kartel and son Likkle Vybz may just have been ‘high’ when they teamed up for their latest track Daddy Was A Pilot.

Newcomers Silk Boss, Shiizbad, and 450 dropped new releases this week with tracks that should be on your Dancehall playlist. There’s also new music from Devin Di Dakta, Konshens, Charly Black, Intence, IWaata and more – check them out below and stream your favorites.

Silk Boss – Geet Weh

Silk Boss is keeping up the pace in his newfound music career, delivering another new track this week called Geet Weh. In the theatrical Lagikz Supreme music video, the 19-year-old Montegonian Dancehall singer finds himself on the ‘receiving end’ of a bad breakup, when a damsel in distress ‘gives it away’ to him because her boyfriend is a drunk. On a slow rhythmic baseline produced by Terro ChopCity Records and Silverbirds Records, the deejay hits some sweet falsetto notes to carry the narrative, “She geet weh, seet deh, cause you nah do weh you fi do and now she cheat pon you…”

Shane O – Walk & Live

The already grimy 1Matik riddim notches another single with Pictoris Creative-directed visuals, this time from Shane O with Walk & Talk. “Murder people, f–k emotions, who nuh like me a suh/ Bout happy Birthday, you nah go live fi seet … one in a head we give fi sleep,” Shane O deejays in a ruthless, quick precipitated flow in the song.

Shiizbad – Take It 

Newcomer Shiizbad made her official music debut last week with the single Take It. She evidently aims to prove ‘she’s bad’ in the Globis Music produced song as she bows to her seducer. “Take it, take it, take it from me, do what you please …” she sings in soulful tones on the hook to spur sexy bedroom imageries.

Devin Di Dakta – Pretty Pretty

Devin Di Dakta and producer Romieikon take listeners back in time with their collaboration on Pretty Pretty. The track gives off old-school Dancehall impressions on the Beat Zinc Fence riddim, which also features tracks from other industry mates such as Dovey Magnum, Deeclef, C Monii, Sekklez, Kacique and Goal Digga. The video, which was directed by Yaadboiiz Films captures performances by the Dance Xpressions team bubbling on the dance floor as the deejay duo sweet-talk their way through the verses on this certified dance-razzing track.

Tahirah Elizabeth – Black Girl 

Neo-soul singer Tahirah Elizabeth has added new visuals to her previously released girls anthem Black Girl off her Sentiment EP. The song arrives on smooth instrumentals by Nicholas “EchoBeats” Graham and guitarist Almando Douglas. Toasting her Jamaican roots and her “cool dark skin’ with the “melanin popping popping right through,” Tahirah is a burst of inspiration and encouragement for those who need to hear it the most. “Black girl, know that you’re a queen, Black girl, show off with your melanin, that skin that you are in there’s so much strength within so breath in. Keep your head up high, aim for the sky, nuh make nobody try hide your shine,” she sings in uplifting verses.

Vybz Kartel, Likkle Vybz – Daddy Was A Pilot

Father and son duo, Vybz Kartel and Likkle Vybz share a bond for their love of weed in the single Daddy Was A Pilot that was released this week. In the animated video courtesy of Cover Art Express, the Worl’ Boss and his sidekick, Likkle Vybz are airborne and flying ‘high’ in the sky for reasons they say, “Me daddy was a pilot and di plane get highjack and me haffi jump out, parachute me nuh buy dat just a float in a di cloud.” The rest of the Aiko Pon Di Beat produced track may sound a bit discombobulated as Kartel spots a thug with a broom in a smoke filled room while he tries to use a rake to clear the air before he’s “out in orbit” because a comet is coming. But that’s just what happens when he’s high.

Skillibeng – Piana / Beethoven

The Dancehall Fresh Prince knows how to keep his fans on their toes and his debut album, Crocodile Teeth The Album.  In his usual style as a dignitary among gangsters, the Dancehall star sings in stealthy tones in a medley video for two tracks off the album, Piana and Beethoven.

“Piana, piana, piana, piana, mi play wid di trigger like piana, shot nyam dem skin like piranha” while sitting at the piano dressed in a fitted red formal suit as a ballerina twirls in the backdrop of the RD Studio visuals. One scene finds the Eastyde artist as a “war veteran” at war scurrying through the woodland in full army attire with the “16 pon mi shoulder.”

Skeng x Intence – Heaven Passport 

Beware of Dancehall neophyte Skeng, unlike others “mi finger dem nuh stush” he says in this threatening new single Heaven Passport with his accomplice Intence. Assuming everyone goes to heaven, Skeng and Intence are issuing free passports to anyone who ‘makes a wrong move’ as versed in the track, which was produced by Ditruth Records and KD Music. The two talk a serious game and look pretty convincing too in the KD Visuals music video, showing off their weaponry of choice – which their disclaimer states are “merely props and should not be taken seriously.”

IWaata – Bus Park

Leave it to Dancehall deejay IWaata to bring you a grisly tale about ghetto life on location in Jamaica. Produced by Keno 4 Star, Bus Park like several of IWaata’s other tracks narrows in on the goings-on of the inner city streets. After an informant carries news to the deejay about a snitch, he unleashes his cronies for an attack. “Brawling bareface we nuh wear no mask” the deejay spits on the track as two assailants pull up at the bus terminus in broad daylight and fire shots at a group of men. The Damaniac Visualz-directed music video would go on the play out the beginning of combat.

Charly Black – Suffering Days 

The ‘Country Boy’ Charly Black is back on the scene with a new single Suffering Days. The track will appear on his upcoming album Rio Bueno named after his hometown in Trelawny Jamaica and is slated for release on November 12. The now successful Party Animal deejay has a word of caution to those who weren’t there for him in the beginning during his “suffering days”. “You never di deh a help build the dream, yuh nu authorize to speak to me or par with mi team. Money, power, respect, and we a run di scheme,” Black sings in the Pop Style produced song.

Denyque – Champion

After a long promotional run, Denyque has finally released the Cinema Gods-directed visuals for her previously released single Champion. She looks unstoppable and fierce as ever in vigorous training mode, boxing with her trainer to exemplify the strenuous journey of a ‘champion’. The song, which was produced by Good Good production and featured on the Self Trust Riddim was written by Denyque who said she felt like a “champion” coming back on the music scene after dodging a near-death experience during the birth of her daughter. While the experience inspired the track, she also wants the song to inspire others to keep pushing despite life’s adversities.

Quada – Wellbad

Dancehall star Quada is the ultimate bad boy and every “gyal crush” in his new track Wellbad produced by Big Laugh Music and Sasaine Music Records. He’s got the house, BMW, expensive jewels and “bricks” of cash to spare with more than enough girls to choose from. In the Raybann Entertainment-directed video there are girls dotted across every scene, from those chilling on his bed, others counting and ironing his cash to combing his hair – the Wild Crocodile artist’s life looks quite complete.

Konshens, Rafa Pabön – She Got It

In another of his foreign flavored collaborations, Dancehall artist Konshens teams up with Puerto Rican musician Rafa Pabön for this new single She Got It. The visualizer may have been missing the two stars but they sure made up for it with an enticing display thanks to a curvaceous Carnival masquerader. The song will appear on Konshens’ upcoming album Red Reign under Ineffable Records with some of his other recent releases such as Eye Contact, Pay For It, Can’t Stay Sober, Bassline, Sexin and Big Belly.

450 – Gyal Thief

Dancehall Artist 450 has been enjoying a rather fruitful 2021. Following the success of “Imperfection” and “Journey”, he steps out with the release of his latest single, “Gyal Thief”.

Produced by Falcon of Tru Ambassador Entertainment, 450 introduces his “gyallis” side to the world as he proclaims proudly that he has ways of stealing someone’s woman. He shares that he has a particular set of skills that will make a woman fall in love with him, and his reputation as an “Ole Gyal Tief” has traveled near and far.
