Minister Marion Hall Teases New Music, Shares Throwback Photo With Beenie Man, Sean Paul & Pharrell
Minister Marion Hall, formerly Queen of Dancehall Lady Saw, has shared a throwback photo with her Bossman collaborators Beenie Man, Sean Paul, and hip-hop producer extraordinaire, Pharrell.
In the Instagram post today, Hall, 52, hinted at the release of at least two songs touching on the subject of fame and possibly its pitfalls.
“Keep your eyes and ear open, for my new songs titled. If I was famous. / when I was famous. Also, the part two of it,” she wrote.
Bossman, the second single from Beenie Man‘s sixteenth studio album Tropical Storm, was released in 2003.
Produced by Pharrell and Chad Hugo (The Neptunes), with vocals from Lady Saw and Sean Paul, the song peaked at No. 78 on the UK singles chart.
Hall, who was the foremost female artist in dancehall in the 90’s and early 2000’s, with her sharp raunchy lyrics, has been a born-again Christian since 2015.
Now a Minister of Religion and a Reggae gospel artist, Hall had said God spoke to her while she was at the funeral of Dancehall artist J Capri. She got baptized shortly after. Since then, Lady Saw has been no more, as Hall traded her raunchy lyrics for church sermons and her skimpy outfits for flowing skirts, stylish blouses, and vibrant church hats.
In 2018, Hall became an ordained evangelist, and started preaching sermons, both at churches and virtually via her Facebook.
Since performing under the Minister Marion Hall moniker, the artist has released two well-received reggae gospel albums, ‘When God Speaks’ in 2016 which produced the hit, Room in My House, and ‘His Grace’ in 2018 which produced the single Oh Lord We Need You.
