Kabaka Pyramid, Medisun, EarthGang & More Team Up On ‘Never Be The Same’: Listen
Mass Appeal Records, a label founded in 2014 by rapper Nas and Peter Bittenbender, has formed a partnership with Friends Only, an LA-based creative company founded by Natalie Prospere, to launch a new product called, “Friends Only, Jamaica”.
“Friends Only, Jamaica” is a mission to bridge the gap between local talent in Jamaica, and visiting artists and producers from the U.S. As a part of the mission, a “Friends Only, Jamaica” compilation has been made, and the first single, Never Be The Same is out now.
Produced by Dre Day, Never Be The Same features the lyricism of Jamaican artists Kabaka Pyramid, Hector “Roots” Lewis, and Medisun, with American artists Buddy and EARTHGANG. Together, they showcase unique melodies, hard-hitting lyrics on a booming production provided by Dre Day.
Buddy is a Compton Rapper who has collaborated with Nipsey Hussle, Ari Lennox, J. Cole, and Tinashe. EarthGang is an Atlanta-based duo that’s currently signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville label and has scored hits with JID, Gorillaz, Young Thug, and Rico Nasty.
Kabaka Pyramid has been staying busy for most of 2021 thanks to his touring duties, and singles like Natural High with Medisun, and a Bugle collaboration titled “Change The World” off of the Toxicity album.
Medisun has been enjoying 2021 thanks to well-received singles like Mau Mau Warrior, Speak Love, Summer Breeze, his latest single Mek It Rock, and his appearance on the Cali Roots Riddim 2021 compilation.
Musician Hector “Roots” Lewis made 2021 his year to expand as he became the first artist signed to Chronixx’s Soul Circle Music label, and released his debut single Ups and Downs.
The Friends Only Jamaica project will be released in the coming weeks.
