Shabba Ranks Receives Warm Welcome From His Seaview Gardens Community
Dancehall legend and recent Heritage Award recipient Shabba Ranks received a warm welcome in his hometown of Seaview Gardens, yesterday afternoon.
The Ting-A-Ling deejay was seen in a 13-minute video walking through his community, knocking fists with his fellow “Seaviewites” and being swarmed by the children of the community.
Shabba, a two-time Grammy award winner, was surrounded by well-known artists such as Harry Toddler and Luciano, as well as fans, old friends, and of course the children, who he proceeded to treat.
Ranks was also visited by Downsound Records CEO and well-known philanthropist Joe Bogdanovich, who spent some time in the company of the 90’s Dancehall star.
This is the self-titled “Mr Loverman’s” second trip to Jamaica this year. He visited in April to put his late mother, affectionately known as Mama Christie to rest and went viral after his heartfelt and passionate graveside speech.
“Hear mi woman, I thank you for everything that you’ve done for me, everything that you’ve done for me, I thank you. I know I live I life, and I know I mother know me love her, cause if it come for me to lose I life to let her live, mi woulda dead fi she live, brothers, mi woulda dead fi she live, sisters,” he had shared in the tear-jerking moment caught on camera.
The 90’s Dancehall star was hailed in A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky’s Shabba which was certified double platinum in the United States last month. His song Ting-A-Ling was also sampled by American rapper and songwriter Wale two weeks ago on a new track dubbed Name Ring Bells.
