Dancehall Producer Shab Don Offered Bail On Corruption Charge
Popular dancehall producer Linval ‘Shabba’ Thompson was offered bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today.
The producer, who is known by the aliases Shab Don, has been charged with breaching the Corruption Prevention Act. He is accused of bribing a public official in relation to a matter that is now being tried in the Gun Court.
Prominent attorney-at-law Donahue Martin appeared in court on his behalf today and confirmed that Thompson was bailed in the sum of $450,000 with at least two sureties and had conditions attached to his bail.
He is to return to court on January 20, 2022.
Last week, Shab Don was given bail in the sum of $250,000 in relation to illegal gun and ammunition charges in a separate case in the Gun Court.
Shab Don is known for his hybrid trap-dancehall productions such as Vybz Kartel’s World Government, Bad Mind on the One Don riddim, and Any Weather which was the first single to be released on his most renowned riddim, the G6ixx.
Shab Don, who is one-half of the Shab Don Records team alongside Carlos Clarke, also produced Teejay’s Shub Out and Henny and Weed and Squash’s Money Fever.
Among his other productions are Baby Yuh Tight by Popcaan and Nuh Rate Dem by Jahvillani.
