LHHATL Star Karlie Redd Working On Dancehall Album After Signing Multi-Million Dollar Deal
Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta (LHHATL) star Karlie Redd will be launching a Dancehall album come 2022, and she’s already recorded a collab with the Queen of Dancehall Spice. The unreleased song, titled Top That, was previewed at a red-carpet dinner party, hosted by Legacy Records in Atlanta last Thursday, to celebrate the “global multi-million dollar deal” that the label recently signed with Redd.
According to Legacy Records, the American TV personality and rapper, who is of Trinidadian descent, is the first female artist to be signed by the label. Redd will be embracing her Caribbean heritage for the upcoming project.
In addition to her LHHATL co-star Spice, Karlie has been spending time in the studio with Dancehall artist and producer Demarco (Puppy Tail, I Love My Life), Grammy-nominated producer Luke Nasty (OTW, Might Be), producers Jonny Blaze & Stadic, R&B singer Sean Garnett and more.
Headed by CEO Keishia McLeod, Legacy Records is best known as the first record label to pay artists in cryptocurrency. McLeod shared her excitement about Redd joining the Legacy team.
“What intrigued me most about Karlie is her hustle and versatility. It’s admiring because she truly understands the importance of a diversified skillset; she invests into a well-balanced portfolio, while remaining both humble and hungry,” the CEO said.
“She has already accomplished that of 10 women combined and that tells me Karlie is just getting started! I think she’s just about to step into the most successful decade of her life, and I’m proud to support a strong woman who aims to help others do the same.”
Redd expressed confidence in her decision to sign with Legacy Records, as she believes they are best suited to deliver her music to the world. On having a female CEO at its helm, Karlie added, “Keishia truly understands the vision of a female artist in a male-driven industry.”
In the meantime, Thursday night’s dinner party included Rasheeda & Kirk, Spice, Demarco, Jonny Blaze, Lil Bankhead, prominent entertainment lawyer Navarro Gray, Redd’s manager Ryan Fionda and more.
So far, Karlie has managed to stay pretty active with her music releases despite her full-time starring role on LHHATL, since Season 1, plus her recurring appearances on ‘Saints & Sinners’ on Bounce TV, amongst other movie and TV roles.
Some of her singles include Ferrari Karlie , Bring It and Heartbreaker featuring Young Dro. She has already crossed over into the Dancehall music territory, collaborating with Mr. Vegas on the single Put You On in 2016 that features Show Banga.
Fans can catch Karlie and Spice on ‘Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta,’ aired on VH1 or find the two hanging together on their many social media posts.
