The family of Dancehall artist Kriston ‘Insta Boss’ Pearson, who was gunned down by a policeman’s bullet at Sorrow Lawn in Trinity, St Mary in 2017, remains devastated by his loss, even as his killer has been brought to justice.

“We are still destroyed,” Carolyn Proudlove, the artist’s mom told DancehallMag. “He is my only son among four girls. It is still sad. My son is gone and he is gone to prison.”

Last week, it was reported that her son’s killer, Oshane Thompson, a former constable in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), had been sentenced to life imprisonment. He must serve 20 years and eight months before he is eligible for parole.

“It is really heart-rending to know that a young man take away my son’s life, and he is gone to prison and I have lost my son,” she said.

It was reported that Pearson, who was 32 at the time, and the former police officer had an altercation at a party in Trinity over a woman, which resulted in the shooting incident. Thompson resigned from the police force and went on the lam, fleeing the island to the United States of America. He was captured and deported to Jamaica to stand trial where he was found guilty of murder on September 24 and sentenced on November 26.

“Nothing will bring back by son or make up for this great loss, but I am happy that a guilty verdict was reached,” Proudlove said.

She said that Instaboss’ music is not really generating any money to help defray the financial costs of raising his children.

“He didn’t reach that far. I am waiting till the matter is finished, so that I can try to deal with that party. He has a lot of songs out there. I will talk to Big A, his producer from IRIE FM, and see what we can do,” she said.

Instaboss is known for singles such as Real Buss Head, Ghetto to the Estate and Fight is survived by three children, two daughters (11 and six) and a four-year-old son.
