Sean Paul Calls Unreleased Collab With Rita Ora A Classic
Grammy-winning Dancehall artist Sean Paul has confirmed that he has teamed up with yet another international Pop sensation, this time British singer and actress Rita Ora.
In an interview with The Sun, Paul said that, while the song will not appear on his upcoming Scorcha album, he looks forward to the prospect of its release someday.
“I think it would really make a difference if we released it one day. It’s not on my next album but I do hope we can put it out. For me a reggae song like that is a classic, especially with someone who is that big in the pop world who has never done reggae before. She killed it,” he said.
Rita’s last album was 2018’s Phoenix, but she has admitted that, during lockdown, music has “been [her] escape”.
“I’m definitely all about making music at the moment and I’ve been like that for a long time. I can’t wait to put out another album and go on tour, I love performing live, it’s my favourite part of the job,” she revealed.
The two are no strangers to each other after the 31-year-old singer recorded Paul’s 2020 single Calling On Me before declining to continue the project. Swedish Pop singer Tove Lo then took up the baton and completed it with Paul.
Rita has several platinum-certified singles in the UK including Your Song, For You (Fifty Shades Freed) with Liam Payne, Anywhere, and Let Me Love You. Her film and TV credits include Fifty Shades Freed, Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Of Grey, 90210, The Voice UK as a coach, The X Factor as a judge, and America’s Next Top Model as a host.
Rita Ora (given name Rita Sahatçiu) even invited the Dancehall legend on stage with her during her 2019 debut show held at London’s O2 Arena. Last year, she was spotted singing and dancing to the raunchy lyrics of Ishawna’s Equal Rights, while enjoying her Ibiza getaway with girlfriends and her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, in August, Sean Paul saluted the scores of female singers and deejays, with whom he has collaborated with over the years.
Some of the most notable ones include Baby Boy with Beyoncè, Got 2 Luv U with Alexis Jordan, Cheap Thrills with Sia, Hair with Little Mix, How Deep Is Your Love with Kelly Rowland, Rockabye with Clean Bandit, Breathe with Blu Cantrell and I’m Still In Love With You with Sasha.
Yesterday, Paul teamed up with Romanian singer Inna for a new single Up. In just 24 hours, the official music video for Up racked up over 1 million views on YouTube.
Unlike his last album Live N Livin, Sean Paul’s upcoming album Scorcha will feature several female collaborators.
They include Shenseea and Gwen Stefani on a single he described as a Reggae-rock tune called Light My Fire, and Sia on the already released track called Dynamite. Dancehall artist Jada Kingdom, and Swedish singer Tove Lo will also appear.
