Koffee, Gunna’s ‘W’ Certified Silver In The UK
Grammy Award-winning Reggae artist Koffee has earned another Brit Certified Silver Award, this time for her track W, which features American rapper Gunna.
According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), W was issued the Silver Award on December 3, 2021, after it sold over 200,000 copies in the UK, as measured by The Official Charts Company.
The official music video for W, released in November 2019, has over 16 million views on YouTube. The lyrics talk a lot about her style, referring to herself as ‘Koffee-Swag-A-Lot’, and staying focused on making that money.
The song was produced by IzyBeats, who’s known for his producer tag “Yo Izy, are you kidding me?”
W is Koffee’s fourth single to be certified Silver in the UK and it caps off a successful year for the 21-year-old.
Her debut single Toast, which was also produced by Izy, was first to reach the Silver milestone in January 2019, before becoming Gold in the UK in January this year.
Repeat, a collab with British rapper J Hus, was certified Silver on February 26, 2021, while Rapture, the title track from her Grammy award-winning EP, was certified Silver on August 6, 2021.
This year, Koffee also contributed the title track on the official soundtrack for the film The Harder They Fall. The official video, released last week, currently stands at 1.6 million views on YouTube.
The new developments come ahead of the release of Koffee’s first full-length album via RCA Records, which is set for 2022.
Rapture won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards, making Koffee the youngest person (at 19 years old) and only woman to be awarded in the category.
