A senior personnel within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has confirmed with DancehallMag that Dancehall deejay Jahshii was taken into custody last night along with scores of partygoers in Clarendon last night.

Under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA), parties and other such events are prohibited until further notice, to alleviate the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Jahshii, whose real name is Mluleki Tafari Clarke, could be seen in a viral video performing to hundreds of patrons, in Bargain Village, May Pen, Clarendon. His set was, however, cut short when a member of the police force intercepted.

The Keep Up singer was recently the topic of discussion within the entertainment fraternity after he publicly criticized veteran artists such as Shabba Ranks for allegedly being unsupportive of up and coming artists, during an Entertainment Report interview with Anthony Miller on Television Jamaica (TVJ).

In 2016, at 16, Jahshii entered the wildly popular Unruly Clash hosted by Popcaan. He moved up the rounds of the talent search, beating his opponents. He was first runner-up and despite not walking away with the crown, he gained recognition.

He’s signed to Herah Music Productions (HMP) and has been enjoying breakout success over the last year with tracks such as Keep Up, 25/8, and Cream Of the Crop with Navaz.

On Friday, Jahshii released a collab with Bounty Killer titled When We A Step.

One year ago, Dancehall veteran Beenie Man was charged for hosting an illegal party at a location in St Elizabeth.  He pled guilty to breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act and was fined $150,000.
