Jahshii Was Not Arrested Or Charged Under The DRMA
Dancehall artist Jahshii has not been charged or arrested, contrary to our previous report that he was taken into custody along with scores of partygoers in Clarendon on Friday night.
On Saturday, a senior personnel within the Jamaica Constabulary Force had told DancehallMag that the artist was detained. However, the Corporate Communication Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, confirmed that the Keep Up singer had not been arrested or charged.
“He was never among the 32 people detained by us. He has not been charged with breaches under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA), or for profanity. He wasn’t arrested so none of those things apply,” a representative of the Corporate Communications Unit, told DancehallMag.
In a video that has been making the rounds online, Jahshii, whose real name is Mluleki Tafari Clarke, could be seen in a viral video performing to hundreds of patrons, in Bargain Village, May Pen, Clarendon. His set was, however, cut short when a member of the police force intervened.
Thirty-two persons were detained and arrested and are facing breaches as under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA), parties and other such events are prohibited until further notice, to alleviate the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The Keep Up singer was recently the topic of discussion within the entertainment fraternity after he publicly criticized veteran artists such as Shabba Ranks for allegedly being unsupportive of up and coming artists, during an Entertainment Report interview with Anthony Miller on Television Jamaica (TVJ).
