Beenie Man Shares Receipts To Prove Negative COVID Status, Denies Being Arrested In Ghana
A day after Ghanaian media houses asserted that Beenie Man was infected with COVID-19 and had flouted regulations including quarantine orders whilst on his recent trip to the West African country, the Simma artist has issued a statement categorically denouncing the allegations.
On Tuesday morning, Beenie took to Instagram to not only share evidence of his negative COVIOD-19 test results out of Ghana, but also a statement issued via his label MD Music Group, which indicated, among other things, that the news reports out of Ghana, were not only fake but utterly nonsensical.
“The entertainment industry has been hit the hardest since the coronavirus pandemic. I’ve seen how it has affected people’s mental health; people close to me have died and suffered. As a carrier of sickle cell disease, I understand the importance of following the protocols set out to help stop the spread of the virus. I know the importance of protecting myself, my family, my team and the people I interact with,” the statement read.
“Before entering Ghana I did a COVID test at the Heathrow Airport in London. The test results were negative. Less than 24 hours after arriving in Ghana, I did another test which was negative. Three days later I did a PCR test to clear me for travel which also came back negative. I have crossed two international borders where I was tested, and all were negative,” Beenie declared in the report.
The 2001 Grammy Award Winner then went on to point out how ludicrous the reports were, citing instances of his sojourn in Ghana where, if he were actually a wanted man, he could have been easily captured, having been in the presence of, and rubbing shoulders with numerous officials vested with the power to have him arrested.
“I was welcomed in Ghana. I performed at the biggest corporate event with Government officials; I was on live TV staying in one of the most prominent hotels in the city. If the Ghananian national security wanted to arrest me, the army would have picked me up. This spread of fake news by the media is here to create confusion. COVIOD-19 is still here. I will continue to follow the necessary protocols to stop the spread of the virus, and so should you,” he added.
The statement which first appeared on MD Music Group’s Instagram page, was captioned: “COVID-19 is no joke. It is here and people are being affected by it. It is disgraceful and distasteful how the media has created a false story merely for entertainment. Stop spreading lies, @kingbeenieman has no Covid.”
On his personal page Beenie in captioning his post about the matter, said he had found the news amusing at first, but no longer found it funny, as it was spreading all over and was now potentially deleterious to his reputation.
“This was funny when it just started because it was unbelievable. But now it’s becoming serious. The people who are spreading these lies, stop. Mi no joke wid Coronavirus bc it stop mi work. It stop bread fimmi family. How me fi inna Ghana and run from Ghanaian Authorities? Stop it mon,” he rebuked.
Beenie also took to task one follower zee40zin who questioned the integrity of the test results he posted.
“So let’s see the date when these test were done …. names and dates are important,” she had written, to which Beenie responded facetiously: “@zee40zin Guh call the number that’s on it and asked fi the dates.”

Beenie had also taken to Twitter a few hours before to make two tweets denying that he was infected with the virus.
“Mi confuse yf #Update to my fans who are genuinely reaching out. I have no Covid, never caught covid before, tested NEGATIVE for Covid. Been travelling for the past 6 months Covid free. Fully vaccinated. I guess someone wants me to have Covid. Uno weird yf,” the first tweet read.
The second was a synopsis of his journey and supposedly incident-free time spent in Ghana.
“Ghana was amazing. Love & light to @stonebwoy and the #BhimTeam. The Ghanaian Government, Immigration, Health Team, Small Gad, Freedom, the whole team. #Ghana ah the best place inna the world. #BhimConcert21. looking fwd to 2022,” he stated.

Yesterday, reports had surfaced via Ghananian news website Citi News, that Beenie had been arrested by immigration authorities after he, according to the media house, ‘escaped’ from quarantine, and circumvented Coronavirus restrictions.
The Ghanaian media house had stated that Beenie, whose given name is Moses Davis, “was arrested a few days ago by Ghanaian authorities for allegedly evading COVID-19 quarantine” and producing a fraudulent Negative COVID-19 result card.
Following the reports, the Dancehall kingpin, was reported by ZJ Sparks as has having “resolved the issue” in a subsequent Instagram post.
Citi News had claimed that Beenie Man tested positive for the virus upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport last week and was sent into mandatory quarantine at the AH Hotel in East Legon by health officials.
According to them, Beenie had “escaped from the hotel” and appeared on a number of media platforms before performing at the Bhim Concert organised by Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy”.
Citi News also claimed they had made “checks” which revealed that Beenie was nabbed by officials from the Ghana Immigration Service, at the airport after he returned to collect his passport after the concert and was subsequently “released to the Ghana Health Service officials and his lawyers” and that the “fake clearance certificate from the Ghana Health Service”, had become a subject of investigations by Ghanaian security officials”.
