Romeich Calls For Entertainment Reopening To Lower Crime
Popular music manager and entrepreneur Romeich Major says more Jamaicans should get vaccinated to encourage a reopening of the entertainment sector, which will, in turn, reduce crime.
Major made a passionate plea on his Instagram page on Sunday, shortly after Prime Minister Andrew Holness held a press conference to discuss crime and the state of the pandemic.
“Yooo uno do mi a favour uno go get uno vaccine nuh cause me want know if and when uno get uno vaccine place ago open up back so please go!!!!!” Major said. “Cuss me all uno want but me want curfew drop and we can go back to our entertainment cause like them blind to see them try everything to stop crime and it can’t why???”
“Night life feeds a lot Entertainment feed million,” he continued.
Major, who is the principal of Romeich Entertainment, and manages Shenseea and Ding Dong, further said the prolonged suspension of the industry has driven culprits over the edge.
“Uno lock it down so man them extra hungry and have no help and them desperate so all crime ago up!!!! So mister prime minister and mister big man officer man!!!! Uno open back entertainment and me bet you crime drop!!!!! Cuss me bash me a my view this and me a run with it…”
In assessing the matter of coronavirus measures on Sunday morning, Holness reiterated that ‘no movement days’ have been abolished, and stressed the importance of immunization.
Speaking to DancehallMag last month, Minister of Culture, Entertainment, Gender and Sports Olivia “Babsy” Grange noted that members of the entertainment fraternity should not hold their breaths on a reopening anytime soon.
Meanwhile, several people have come out in support of Major, including dancehall singjay Ce’Cile, who connected, “I’m with you.”
One follower added, “ same ting mi seh dis mawnin smh”
“Right on point Romeich 👏👏,” another said.
“Facts!! God help those who help themselves. 👏👏,” said one more of Major’s one million IG followers.
