Since the release of his debut album 438 Dancehall star Masicka has been riding high on streaming platforms in Jamaica and the diaspora.

The album, which opened at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart after its release on December 3, is currently at No. 10, remaining on the chart for 7 consecutive weeks.  It’s the only Dancehall album released over the last year to stay more than one week on the Billboard chart.

According to data provided to DancehallMag, 438 moved 5,164 total units from sales and streaming in the United States during its first three weeks in December.

Masicka is also currently the No.1 artist in Jamaica, according to YouTube’s Music Charts & Insights, with 8.28 million views recorded on the island over the last month.

The deejay’s top songs in Jamaica over the last 28 days were Suicide Note (1.34 million views), Moments with Stefflon Don (947,000 views), and King (917,000 views).  Update, which did not appear on the album, picked up 897,000 views in Jamaica this month.

Genahsyde fans went into a Twitter frenzy over the new video for King, which was released on Monday, January 24.  Viewers lauded the director for including a classic photo of Bounty Killer in the visuals, which some suggested was a covert reference of the Seaview deejay as a ‘King’ of the dancehall.

Meanwhile, Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Legend sits high at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart for the 107th week.

Shaggy’s Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection holds the No. 2 spot for the week with Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection at No. 3.
