Minister Marion Hall Says Spice, Shenseea Competing In Desperate “Race To Hell”
Minister Marion Hall, formerly Lady Saw, has admonished Spice, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom, and Ishawna to curtail the lewd content in their music, pointing out that all four appear to be competing in a desperate “race to hell”.
In a three-hour Facebook sermon on Sunday, January 23, the former Queen of the Dancehall said she was taking responsibility for starting the ‘slackness’ in Dancehall, but was advising the quartet to turn to God and refrain from chasing the “things of the world”, or risk “losing their salvation”.
“I am sharing this Live today because I want Spice to see it; I want Ishawna to see it; I want – what’s the other name? Jada Kingdom. I want you all to see this because you are all selling yourselves short and you are going to hell if you don’t turn around. I am telling you that because I was you. And its disgusting and you need to stop,” she said. “And I don’t know if you have a heart like mine, or you have conscience… we all make mistakes and sometimes I believe even you Shenseea when I look at you, you’re so beautiful. I made some bad mistakes than, you know.”
“There is another one – Spice, you need to relax. I know you; you were living with me at one point and the way you will fight for things, you will go to hell to get it. I know you. And I just wanna reach out to you this morning and I don’t care how you take it… I’m just here to talk to you, because of who I was. I am still not perfect. I still made wrong choices; I choose wrong men…,” she continued.
According to Hall, she had to speak out as, being the pioneer of slackness, she felt tormented, as the women were talking lewdness to the extreme and disgracing themselves.
Her comments came in the wake of Shenseea’s controversial song titled Lick and its accompanying music video.
“I am not afraid of you Spice; I am not afraid a you Ishawna… yeh, mi nuh fraid. Mi can stay right yah suh and bad up di whola oonu wid Jeezas. Yeh. But I want you to take a good look at what you’ve been doin. Because I started it, yeh. And I just can’t rest unless I speak to you. Yeh, you goin overboard. Is like a race to hell. Yah. Is like you racing each other to get to hell,” she declared.
“And if one take off a top, the other one take off a panty. Is like you constantly competing and the devil is rejoicing,” the Room in My House artiste added.
While Jada and Ishawna’s names were mentioned, Hall’s presentation was centered on Shenseea and Spice, whom she called on to “seek God”.
“I want to reach you because the God I know, he speaks and the God I know touch hearts. And if you say you know God, and you call his name, and you never hear his voice yet, I want you to really seek him because, baby girl – Shenseea, when I look at you I saw something popping up – and baby girl when I saw you, you look helpless. It’s like you doing forced labour. You too beautiful. Oh God of glory; come on now sweetheart. Your mom passed recently – I don’t mean to bring her up, but I don’t think she would be happy. Please turn. You are my sisters. Turn turn, turn, turn, turn in Jesus name,” she said before breaking out speaking in tongues.
“I want you all to help me to pray for these women. I started it, so I need to end it. There is no award that you could want so bad, that you have to do what you’re doing… I believe God grabbed me just in time so I pray that God will pull you, take that scale from off your eyes, because I want you to look at yourself. Look at yourselves. I was once you darling; I was once you and you know what? I am hurting for you and I just want you to know this: I am not perfect. And God isn’t looking for perfect. He is looking for people like you,” she said.
Hall said it did not matter to her if any of the women become upset with her as a result of her statements. Shenseea, she said, seemed to be pretending to be happy, while Spice, whose real name is Grace Hamilton, was a copycat.
“It is a disgrace. It is shameful; what you’re doing just competing with each other. It was happening already with me and you Gracie. Everything I would do, you would do something to top it. Are you all going to continue until you get to hell? I don’t care if you love me or not… I see in my little sisters, a desperation has taken control of them. Oh God of Glory,” she said.
“I was Lady Saw. I, who was the baddis baddis, in Dancehall, who originate slackness weh dem call slack, which is I sang about sex…but this gone overboard now, Jeezas Christ… Shenseea, I don’t believe that’s really you; you don’t look happy that way. Your smiles look fake. I was the worst of them all, as a sinner, so I am not excluding myself. I am talking about where I am coming from,” the St Mary native added.
