Shaneil Muir Calls Out Fans For Not Supporting Her New Song ‘Black Is Beautiful’
After the release of her new single Black Is Beautiful, Top Gyal Shaneil Muir issued a stern word to Dancehall music fans. According to the Yamabella singer, who is known for her usually clean and positive song releases, there’s no pleasing Dancehall audiences.
Muir shared a clip of the uplifting song’s audio on her IG page recently and lamented that the fans weren’t streaming it, amid heavy debate over the last two weeks about suggestive content in the genre.
“A regular uno complain bout woman love sing bout pumpum and this and that and now uno get good song and nah run it up nor run wid!” she wrote in the caption.
In Black Is Beautiful, Muir celebrates the melanin in her skin and encourages others, especially children, to be proud of their race and culture.
“I think music has a responsibility when it comes to the subconscious and helping to develop certain things, especially in our kids. I wanted to be one of those people who reminds everybody listening to music that black is powerful if you feel somewhat inferior to what the world is trying to make a normal thing right now,” she told the Observer.
“When I sat and wrote it I was aiming for the kids because they are the younger ones and now, they’re growing up to learn something that when I weigh everything, it affects them more than it affects who are already adults – it’s not only dedicated to just black people.”
With only 35,000 views on the College Boiz-produced song, Muir demanded that her followers head over to her VEVO page and stream the new song. “Aye uno go listen this and don’t make me and uno have anything!! Uno bias and contradicting like,” she said.

Many of Shaneil industry friends came out to support her statement.
Chronic Law urged the Talk Truth singer to continue being a leader. He wrote, “Cyaa follow dem afi lead dem ‼️ Dem nuh sure weh dem want at times.”
Dancehall singer Cecile also commented, “Facts”, and BushLawd Yaksta wrote, “That is it,” while Dyani gave Muir a round of applause with a string of clapping hand emojis.
One fan said, “The outcry never matches the views! when artists give them the “positive music” they complain about not hearing they pay it no mind. Most people are All bark and no damn bite.”
Others, however, expressed the harsh reality of what really sells in Dancehall.
“🔥🔥🔥🔥them naw go listen it cause it doesn’t have pumpum in it along with some claat,” said one person. Another added, “Cause dem follow hype n people we a pay fi constant hype!!!🔥.”
