Shenseea Meets Rihanna At Fenty Beauty Event In L.A.
Jamaican songbird Shenseea and Rihanna were captured face to face for the first time at the Bajan superstar’s Fenty Beauty Universe event at the Goya Studios in Los Angeles last night (Friday, February 11).
The shutterbugs caught the moment the two women exchanged a friendly hug, as Rihanna, 33, thanked Shenseea, 25, for coming to the event. The Umbrella singer was seen giving the Shenyeng princess a quick head-to-toe sweep before saying, “You look so nice”, which sent her erupting in laughs.
Fans of the Dancehall singer will know just how much of an admirer she is of Rihanna. “I love Rihanna. Rihanna is my queen, my Caribbean queen,” Shenseea said in an MTV interview last week as she weighed in on comparisons between her and the Man Down singer. Though flattered, Shenseea said she would much rather, “Be the best version of myself, because I am special in my own way.”
“The Queen,” she wrote today in an Instagram caption alongside a clip of the moment. “Love her,” she added in a comment.

Shenseea’s long-time manager Romeich Major had also commented on the chatter labeling her as the ‘next Rihanna’ and possible big act to emerge from the Caribbean.
“We just a work and a do the best music,” he told The Weekend Star in an issue on Friday. “She a put in as much work as possible. Fi even get compared to Rihanna just shows how big it is fi even can be in the same category and conversation. That shows that she is doing very good work, so we nav nuh predictions,” he added.
Rihanna, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend, Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, hasn’t slowed in showing up for these events and is embracing her ever-changing body while showcasing her eclectic style.
“Right now, being pregnant, some days you just feel like, ‘Ugh, I just want to lay here on this couch all day.’ But when you put on a little face and a little lipstick, you transform,” the songstress shared with People at the Fenty event last night.
The fashionista, who was rocking a sequin tasseled, backless halter top and pant ensemble by The Attico, added that fashion has sent her confidence through the roof as she prepares to become a first-time mother.
“You put some clothes on, and it’s like, when you look good, you feel good,” Rihanna continued. “I’ve heard that for a very long time, but it’s true. It really can get you up off that couch and make you feel like a bad bxtch.”
Shenseea, who is a brand ambassador for Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty collection, was also showing out in a sizzling look at last night’s event.
The Rihanna-approved outfit was a black see-through striped one-shoulder dress with a daring reveal hemline in the back. The style came complete with a curly up-do hairstyle, nude strappy stilettos, and some chunky bling.

The two Caribbean Queens would later move on to another hot spot that night, appearing at Kanye West’s screening of his Netflix three-part documentary jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy.
The event kicked off last night in Hollywood at the Citizen News event space, followed by a star-studded after-party at Mother Wolf. Ye, who was not scheduled to attend the screening, made a surprise appearance and shared a few thoughts on his life, Hollywood’s “cancel culture,” and the importance of Black unity among other topics.
The after-party that was held downstairs at Chef Evan Funke’s Mother Wolf, was a constellation of stars. Along with Shenseea, Rihanna, and A$AP Rocky, were other celebs like Da Baby, Roddy Ricch, Quavo, Taraji P. Henson, Usher and more.
Shen’s upcoming debut studio album Alpha will arrive next month on March 11 through Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records. While expectations run high, her manager Romeich has expressed confidence that Alpha will do “good, great and excellent.”
“It a guh bad,” he said. “It’s gonna be an album that’s very different from the norm of a Dancehall artiste. It’s a mixture of different types of music but will still have dancehall and international songs … you’re going to hear the different types of music, and you’re going to respect her [Shenseea] pon a different level after dah album yah release.”
“We a release the album fi show a next level of the artiste. We a release the album and a do her first album so she can be bigger and better for the next album. It’s just growth and still growth.”
In the meantime, Shenseea has been giving fans an idea of her artistic dimensions and what to expect with the album, with the release of her most recent tracks, including Lick (featuring Megan Thee Stallion), Be Good, Run Run and You’re the One I Love.
