Popcaan ‘Elevates’ With Queen Ifrica’s Son Imeru Tafari On New Song: Watch
Rising talent Imeru Tafari, the son of renowned Jamaican songstress Queen Ifrica, had a big break appearing on a new single Elevate with Dancehall star Popcaan this week.
Produced by Dan Sky Records and Attomatic Records, the track appears on the Elevate Riddim and debuted with the official Glimpse Cinema-directed music video on Saturday (February 12).
The visuals take viewers to a backyard setting where Popcaan and Imeru deliver the track among peers including Reggae artist Runkus.
Aptly titled ‘Elevate’, the song is a narrative of determination to succeed against the odds. “Babylon want we live poor … All when time rough we a celebrate, dem haffi watch we a elevate,” Imeru says in his verses.
Popcaan adds his signature bars to describe how he elevates amidst his detractors. “Dem haffi watch we a rise, we a soar left dem negative vibes. We nuh fear nuh devil in a disguise, dem come round with dem mouth full a lies…”
The new-gen Reggae act, Imeru didn’t let the chance slide to name-drop his famous mother Ventrice Morgan, aka. Queen Ifrica in the song. In more verses he sings, “Real lion don’t roll with the crew dem, Imeru done great we a show dem, Ventrice Morgan son a di chosen. Blessing a flow like the hose dem. It is there for me, it is there for you.”
For the fans, the single was a breath of fresh air and so inspiring. One YouTube viewer said, “Powerful songs, strong and inspiring lyrics. Thank you.” Another added, “This song is inspiring 🌟.” While this fan said, “Goosebumps listening to this 🔥 Reality things💯🤘🏻.”
The Unruly supporters showed up and naturally showered their favorite deejay with love, “Popcaan never disappoint his fans with new music 👏 🙌 🙏 believe that #unruly”, was one of several similar reactions.
As for Imeru, his performance on the single was favorably welcomed. “Imeru Tafari, talented and intelligent artist needs to be heard more. Love this collab,” said one person.
