Jamaican Dancehall star Shenseea has been selected by Apple Music’s editorial team for its Up Next program—the streaming platform’s monthly initiative aimed at “identifying, showcasing and elevating rising talent.”

As part of the Up Next campaign agenda, the Good Comfort artist will make her late-night TV debut with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 3.

“I’m so excited to be chosen as an Apple Music Up Next artist,” Shenseea said in a release sent to DancehallMag.   “Apple Music has always been such a great supporter ever since the release of my U.S. single ‘Blessed’ and especially now that I am about to release my debut album, ‘ALPHA,’” she added.

Shenseea, whose real name is Chinsea Lee, joins the likes of stars such as her compatriot Koffee, Stefflon Don, Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., Megan Thee Stallion, and Burna Boy, who have been selected in the past for promotion by Apple Music, which says it will utilize the full force of its platform to raise awareness of Shenseea to its “growing global audience of music fans.”

The campaign also includes an Apple Music short film, which was shot entirely on iPhone, to serve as Shenseea’s introduction to Apple users.  Her Up Next film, released today, is available on Apple Music, while a preview is available on YouTube.

Meanwhile, in an Apple Music 1 interview, with host Nadeska, the Manchester native, among other things, had special praises for her fans whom she said have been showering her with not only positive messages, but gifts ranging from facial creams, nails, lashes, clothes, and even Dior bags.

“They bring me everything,” she said.

She also spoke at length on her upcoming Alpha album, which she said, she had been working on “for a couple of years”, and had left her feeling a wee bit of anxiety.

The 25-year-old spoke glowingly of Jamaican producer Rvssian, whom she said produced most of the songs on the album.

“He is one of the best.   I have had chemistry with Rvssian.  And it’s important to not be running over the place as an artist, you might really mess your sound up.  Not everybody understands you as an artist, what’s best for your voice and how to coach you so that you can reach certain notes that you did not know that you can reach.  Rvssian does that for me, so I am a hundred percent comfortable,” she explained.

As for her recently-released R U That collab with rapper 21 Savage, Shenseea said that he had immediately accepted her offer to team up with her.  “We spoke on text and I had the song and I sent it to him… I asked him: ‘would you jump on this’… and he said yes, because this song is a hit,” she recalled.

R U That will appear on Alpha alongside her 2019 hit Blessed featuring Tyga, Lick featuring Megan Thee Stallion, and 11 other songs.

The album is due out on March 11 via Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records, a joint venture headed by Rvssian.

In 2021, Shenseea and Apple Music previously teamed up for a cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah as part of the streaming service’s Carols Covered – a collection of popular Christmas songs sung by contemporary artists.
