Tommy Lee Sparta’s Lawyers Demand Correctional Officers Be Removed From Duty Pending Probe
An attorney-at-law representing dancehall star Tommy Lee Sparta has demanded the removal from active duty of all correctional officers involved in a bloody bust-up with the deejay at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre on Monday.
“The legal team is looking at all options. We are calling on the Department of Correctional Services to launch an internal investigation into the matter and immediately pull the officers involved from active duty, pending the outcome of the investigative process,” attorney-at-law Donahue Martin said.
The Department of Correctional Services is yet to respond to the demand but the entity had sent out a release on Monday confirming that an altercation had occurred at the prison after an inmate failed to comply with a direct command and had to be “subdued”.
The incarcerated deejay was involved in a bloody altercation on Monday of this week which reportedly left the Spartan Soldier deejay unconscious, and hospitalized at the Kingston Public Hospital.
According to the release, the Acting Superintendent on duty reported that the inmate refused to re-enter his cell following the distribution of breakfast. Upon repeat of the command, the inmate allegedly hurled his breakfast at the Staff Officer in retaliation.
“He was subdued by the officer and both parties received injuries. The inmate was taken to the Medical Orderly on the compound of the institution for examination and later transferred to a public hospital for further treatment,” the release said.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
In a release, the deejay’s management team, Boss Lady Muzik, Inc, said they were “monitoring everything very closely”.
“We truly appreciate all your prayers and positive vibrational energy for his speedy recovery,” they added.
