Protoje, Chronixx Earn First UK Certification For ‘Who Knows’
Roots-reggae revivalists Protoje and Chronixx have both earned their first United Kingdom certification, after their 2015 Who Knows collab was awarded Silver on Friday (February 25).
According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), Who Knows was issued the Brit Certified Silver Award after it sold over 200,000 copies in the UK, as measured by The Official Charts Company.
The song formed part of Protoje’s third studio album Ancient Future (2015), which had also featured collaborations with Jesse Royal, Kabaka Pyramid, and Sevana. The album, produced by Phillip ‘Winta’ James of Overstand Entertainment, spent 17 weeks on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, after peaking at No. 1.
Since its release, Who Knows has amassed over 165 million views on YouTube.
Protoje and Chronixx are known in the musical arena to have a close bond.
In 2015, the artists shared the story of how they met and how they started making music together, with Chronixx reaching out to Protoje online to produce for him. Watch below.
They’ve since collaborated on other tracks, namely: No Guarantee (2018), Flames (2018), and the Underdog remix (2020) with Alicia Keys. And, Chronixx has even lent his uncredited voice to the chorus of Protoje and Koffee‘s Switch It Up (2020).
Meanwhile, this new milestone has bumped Chronixx up just a little more since the start of 2022.
Just last month, his 2013 hit song Here Comes Trouble surpassed 100+ million views on YouTube. The track which was the most popular from his acclaimed breakout EP Dread and Terrible released in April 2014.
Chronixx’s debut album Chronology arrived in 2017, while his sophomore project, initially slated for release in the Summer of 2020, has been delayed indefinitely.
