Crown Boss Joins Growing List Of Upcoming Dancehall Artists Killed By The Gun
Trelawny-based Dancehall artist Crown Boss has now joined a growing list of young deejays who have been gunned down in recent months.
The deejay, whose given name is Demaro Peynado, was discovered at a guest house in Claremont, St Ann, on Saturday morning. He had been shot and killed by unknown assailants,
Police reports indicate that Crown Boss, who is a resident of Spicy Hill, Trelawny, had checked in at a guest house on Friday. However, employees at the establishment became suspicious when several checks to the room went unanswered. The police were called in and Crown Boss’ body was found with gunshot wounds and lacerations.
The scene was processed and his body was removed to the morgue.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Crown Boss is known for songs including Murda featuring Chronic Law, R.I.P, Money Brain, and Money Cyan Done featuring Jahvillani.
He has joined a growing list of dancehall artists who have been gunned down in the past year. The island’s high murder rate greatly affected the entertainment fraternity directly in 2021. Dancehall artists Fadagad, Killfood, Paparazzi and Kashmar were killed in separate incidents last year. Foota Hype’s brother was also murdered. Female dancehall artist D British was also stabbed to death in March, 2021.
The carnage has continued this year. On January 20th, Montego Bay-based deejay Kapella Don was gunned down by unknown men in his community of Montpelier. On February 1, it was reported that Mobay-based dancehall artist Sick 1 was allegedly shot and killed by police in St. James.
