Watch: Skillibeng Stars Pilot Episode Of ‘Smoke Session’ Freestyles

Producers Cobe (President of Unruly Entertainment and credited for his work with Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Tommy Lee, Aidonia) and Mini E5 (Popcaan, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man) have joined forces to create a Jamaican culture platform called ‘Smoke Club Jamaica’. As the name suggests, this platform is a hub for all things Jamaican, cannabis and music.

Smoke Club’s first venture is a freestyle series ‘Smoke Session’ featuring various rising and established artists, allowing them to showcase their talent in a traditional freestyle format. The episodes are shot in various locations with an iconic singular mic and stage setup – underscoring the organic nature of the concept.

“We don’t typically get to showcase our style and talent OUR way,” Amilcar ‘Cobe’ Smith said. “I find that when Jamaican artists go overseas on these platforms, the authenticity is lost. The goal with the Smoke Sessions is to highlight our style; nobody loves Rap more than me but this platform is a celebration of us.”

The pilot episode features rapidly-rising star Skillibeng who performed an exclusive freestyle to a beat produced by ‘Once More With Feeling’.  Skilli’s freestyle was shot on the ‘Eastsyde’ – the colloquial term for the area bordering St.Thomas, where the artist is originally from.
