Shenseea, Popcaan And Skillibeng To Rep Jamaica At UK Wireless Festival
Dancehall princess Shenseea as well as Unruly Boss Popcaan and rising star Skillibeng have been confirmed for the United Kingdom’s Wireless Festival come July 2022.
“DANCEHALL CREW 🗣 Gopuff delivers Wireless 2022 is the ONLY place you can see these acts live this summer in the UK🔥 Don’t miss out,” the organizers wrote in an Instagram post.
The event which fuses some of Hip Hop, Afrobeat, and Dancehall’s biggest acts will run from Friday, July 1 until Sunday, July 10 and will be headlined by Tyler the Creator, Cardi B, and J. Cole. Other megastars to grace the stage will include Nicki Minaj, Sza, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Lil Baby, Jhené Aiko, Burna Boy, Summer Walker, Little Simz, and Central Cee.
The week-long festival is slated to take place across three locations; Crystal Palace Park from July 1 to 3, Finsbury Park from July 8 to 10, and Birmingham, also from July 8 to 10.
Shenseea has been having a fruitful year, from releasing her debut album Alpha , to signing a global publishing deal with S10 Publishing, in partnership with Avex USA. The West Hollywood-based S10 Entertainment was founded as a label, management, and publishing outfit, by CEO Brandon Silverstein, who manages American singer/dancer Normani and Brazilian singer Anitta.
Soon after her 2019 single Blessed featuring Tyga was Certified Gold in Canada last month, the 25-year-old revealed that she’s already working on her sophomore album. “I’m very happy with where I am because I feel like I’ve been getting a lot of recognition from international acts, producers…I’m working on my second album, and knowing that I’ve given my first album Alpha to the culture—I had to give back to my culture. The second one is something completely different,” she told Brandon Gomez during an interview.
Meanwhile, Popcaan recently signed a management deal with UK-based Since 93. He’s expected to drop his fifth studio album sometime this year, and fans already got a teaser of the set titled Great Is He, with the release of Skeleton Cartier in March 2022.
The Way Up deejay is also set to headline another festival dubbed the ‘Unruly Culture Splash’ in Croatia in September. The events, which include live performances, pool parties, sound clashes, and excursions, will take place at Zrće beach on the island of Pag.

Skillibeng, who is now signed to RCA Records in partnership with EastSyde Records, seems to be at a place of contentment with his career, based on his comments during an interview with Tim Westwood in April. He unequivocally declared that he makes music for the ladies, and doesn’t mind the backlash from naysayers who have been criticizing the uneven quality of his music.
Yesterday, the St. Thomas native released the five-track EP Mr. Universe, which includes his latest hit Whap Whap featuring F.S.
The EP is billed as a teaser to his sophomore studio album, slated for release sometime this summer.
