Buju Banton and Junior Reid publicly buried the hatchet a few nights ago at Stone Love’s Weddy Weddy, 14 years after the One Blood singer snubbed the Til Shiloh artist, supposedly for unsavory comments he had made at the Best of the Best show in Miami in 2008.

In a video that sees Buju at the iconic Stone Love’s turntable, playing the role of selector, he pauses and then summons Reid to join him.  “Junior, come een nuh.  Me an you have a difference inna farrin weh wi shouldn’t even bloodclaat have,” Buju told Reid.

“Wi naw no difference yuh nuh caw a still one blood.  Nobaddy nuh love yuh like hiw mi love yuh,” Junior Reid responded, as Buju hugged him briefly.

“Yuh a mi pickney enuh.  A me seh ‘All fruits ripe’ enuh, and den Buju come seh ‘all fruits ripe’.   Mi love yuh enuh.   A me seh farrin mind’ and yuh come she ‘yuh wretch yuh, neva know seh life hard, why yuh neva sen yuh money come a yaad?’  A one blood, anytime yuh si me an Buju a one blood,” Reid added.

In June 2008, reports had surfaced that Reid and the Gargamel were involved in a bust-up during the Best of the Best show, an incident which the elder had denied.  Reid had reportedly admitted that there was bad blood between himself and Buju, resulting from an incident in which Buju Banton made disparaging comments about him in front of his then-teenaged daughter and referred to him as ‘Junior Greed’.

After Buju tried to greet him backstage Reid had given him the cold shoulder, refusing to shake his hand and accused him of “playing him dirty”. Reid said he was surprised that Buju Banton would address him in such a way given the fact that he had been involved in reggae music for almost three decades.

Junior Reid had also said he was perplexed as to why Buju would have referred to him as greedy as he had, among other things voiced for him at no cost and had never done any business transaction with him.

Junior Reid had collaborated with Buju in 2001 for the single Wanted, which he later re-released in 2004.  The song, which was produced on Reid’s JR Productions label, also made Reid’s Living Legend album tracklist.

While Junior Reid has mended fences with Buju, it appears, however, that there has been no love lost between himself and Beenie Man.  The two, according to Beenie, have been at odds since 1988.

In October 2020, Beenie said in a Teach Dem interview that they both had a falling out during a show over what he described as a “silly thing” which later escalated.  Beenie had also said it was Reid’s fault.

Beenie had said he still respected Reid but that a reconciliation was unlikely as the This is Why I’m Hot singer had disrespected him too many times over the years.

“Man try disrespect me all inna dance enuh bredrin, park all infront ah me, kick all mi van door an bend up mi van door. Me an him will never be dat friend,” Beenie had said.
