Dancehall Producer Shab Don Charged With Three Counts Of Murder
Dancehall producer Linval “Shabba” Thompson Jr., popularly known as Shab Don, has been charged with three counts of murder after being questioned in the presence of his attorney.
Donahue Martin, attorney-at-law representing Shab Don says his team is prepared to fight the case. “It’s always regrettable when someone is charged so he’s not happy. We are ready and prepared to defend this malicious claim,” he told DancehallMag a short while ago.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the accused was charged in connection to a triple killing in Rose Heights, St James last month. The victims were 27-year-old Chadwell Fraser, 24-year-old Chamario Calvin and Toniann Reid.
Shab Don was also charged with two counts of shooting with intent.
It was reported that on May 25 the three were among five people shot during a drive-by on Marl Road in Rose Heights. All five were reportedly at a birthday party.
Martin however remained adamant that his client was wrongfully associated with the triple murder.
“We are prepared to defend ourselves against that allegation and didn’t prove that he didn’t participate in that incident,” he said.
On June 3, 2022, Shab Don was taken into custody by the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) in connection with the incident.
Shab Don was freed of gun-related charges on April 7, however, he is accused of offering a police officer $2 million to get rid of an illegal gun in a case he had been previously charged with. He was charged with a breach of the Corruption Prevention Act, Section 14, Subsection 2, which is considered a greater offense than attempted bribery.
Specializing in Dancehall and Trap fusions, Shab Don Records, headed by Thompson Jr. and Carlos Clarke, initially formed as a production outfit for the Squash-led 6ixx group in Montego Bay and is best known for Vybz Kartel‘s Bad Mind and Any Weather , TeeJay‘s Henne & Weed and Shub Out, Squash’s Money Fever and Jahvillani‘s Nuh Rate Dem.
