Alkaline Soundtracks Haute Paris Runway Fashion Show
Dancehall deejay Alkaline scored big as several of his singles made the soundtrack for haute Paris runway during the first major collection of Paris Fashion Week’s menswear season. Many fans of the Vendetta Boss fans were beaming with pride on Wednesday, as highlights from the fashion show hit social media which featured the Dancehall tracks playing in the background.
Among them were Champion Boy, After All, My Side of the Story, and One More Time.
The models were clad in pieces by American designer Matthew M. Williams, who is a former collaborator of Lady Gaga and Kanye West. Each look was synonymous to others, as the pro models strutted casual, loose sleeved, shirts and pants. While others wore open jackets, face masks—and some with a dash of neon colours to contrast the predominantly neutral coloured line.
To make things a bit more interesting, the runway was covered in water to add to Williams’ dramatic effect.
According to the Washington Post, the designer was aiming to create a line that was reminiscent of everyday wear. “Everything is grounded in reality. I could see the guy in each look existing on the street — for me that’s a really modern approach,” he said.
The newspaper also stated that Williams took further inspiration from his colleagues when bringing each look to life.
“The bomber jackets with laser-cut house logos that opened the show were inspired by those the designer used to admire in Harlem, New York. Elsewhere, the street styles of California mixed with preppy styles, such as torn tailored pants,” the publication added.
Some fans took to social media to express how proud they were of the Jamaican entertainer’s newest feat.
