Bounty Killer Says There’s No Question Who’d Win In Clash Between Masicka, Alkaline

Bounty Killer has weighed in on a much-touted clash between his nemesis Alkaline and Masicka, implicitly stating that the King Inna Earth artist would triumph over the Champion Boy, if, and when they engage in a lyrical duel.

“Is that a real question,” was the Warlord’s rhetorical response to a Yaadstars post about who would win in a lyrical Dancehall clash between Alkaline and Masicka.

Masicka has been clamoring for a clash with Alkaline and “any other deejay” from as far back as 2014, when he was just 20 years old, on the premise that Dancehall had gotten “too boring”.  In the same breath, Masicka had dismissed Tommy Lee Sparta and Gage who were listed as potential combatants, as “circus clowns”, while noting that Alkaline, whom he described as talented, was the one person from his generation who would be a worthy opponent, but that the Ardenne High School old boy was “afraid”.

On Tuesday, the IG video clip which accompanied the Yaadstars question, also contained excerpts from music videos from both young men, as well as a 2014 interview in which Masicka told Onstage host Winford Williams that he does not “rate” Alkaline, similar to sentiments expressed by Bounty Killer last year.

“If he wants to clash you, would you?” Winford asks the Calabar High School old boy, who, without hesitation, responds: “Right now!”

There have been speculations that Alkaline has thrown down the gauntlet, via his new song Static the accompanying music video for which was shot within what appears to be a swamp, regarded as the home of crocodiles, to which Masicka has “aligned” himself.

The two artists would be an equal match were they to square off lyrically onstage.

Both are 28 years old—Alkaline born on December 19, 1993; Masicka born on December 4, 1993—and they are considered intellectual equals, having attended two of the premier high schools in Jamaica, where they both did exceptionally well at English Literature, which is fundamental to good song-writing.

Their 2021 albums, 438 and Top Prize , both peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart after each sold just under 3,000 units during their first week of release.

In the 2014 Onstage interview, Masicka had declared that he was always clash-ready, a skill he had honed from his days at Calabar High School, and which he thought was missing from the Dancehall music space.

“Memba over di years wi si di veterans dem a dweet enuh, and music is entertainment…,” Masicka had said.   “And mi feel like dat a one a di problem, di Dancehall music lost its culture and its roots.  Wi neva seh wi a guh get up an kill nobaddy.”

When asked whether lyrical clashes can bring back the zest in Dancehall, Masicka had replied: “Yes, di people want fi si some entertainment right now.  Di artiste dem lame… If you pree history and pree di music, yuh nuh.  Yuh neva really have no artiste a dead ova clash or nobaddy a shoot nobaddy.  Suh people fi just understand seh entertainment at di end a di day.”

Declaring that he was not in any dealings with demons, Masicka had said that while he respected Tommy Lee, he saw his occult antics as a “big joke business”.

Of Alkaline he had said: “Personally Alkaline is a talented deejay but him fi just accept di fact seh him live inna Vybz Kartel shadow and him a try be Vybz Kartel, an him still naw come an seh him a try be Vybz Kartel.  Mi nuh rate Alkaline still.  Him music bad still, but di type a ting dem weh him sing bout as a yute from di street and as a yute weh grown in di street a nuh suppm weh mi a guh get up an rail fah,” he had added.

As for Bounty, on Thursday, there were some Vendetta fans who, after seeing his response, as usual, did not hesitate to take him on in defense of Alkaline.

“@grunggaadzilla, nobody nah talk to yuh bredda,” 1grabcyaad declared, to which Bounty responded: “@1grabcyaad, So is who talking to u either?🤔”.

Another Vendetta fan tall_sadge chimed in noting that Alkaline has, and will remain invincible, even in the midst of being the target for numerous top deejays.

“@grunggaadzilla, masicka bad but da yute yah prove time n time again say unuh cyah win him… if unuh champion Kartel and 1 whole crew a man couldn’t do it yuh feel say masicka can…. 🙄🤦🏾,” he noted.

As the squabble continued, Bounty gained support from tafari_backtodfuture, who told stacy_staybless that: “the post ask who would win a clash n killa pick a name supm wrong wid dat? The post was a general post n anyone who wish to comment is free.”

“tafari_backtodfuture Conversation dem a look wid di general dawg nobody nuh remember dem and dem fi know a nuh rupaul coach masicka dat dem fi know😎”, Bounty replied referencing   American drag queen Rupaul, whom he had jeered Beenie Man about for many years, after the veteran deejay appeared on his show in 1996.

However, stacy_staybless, used the opportunity to take aim again at Bounty.

“All when a rupaul coach vendetta him bad and a dat a hurt u head up @grunggaadzilla #50 goh dye u bead. Stop hating on the youth,” she stated, in a response that evoked the Coppershot artiste’s wrath as he unleashed some crass words at her.

“Go dye u mumma front big hole gyal mi nuh dye or diet mi live nobody did mention anything about yu tiki artiste go chuck off sum weh my opinion is ur business ole crosses😅😂🤣,” he wrote.

Bounty also went tit-for-tat with boostmobileof.fulton who wrote: @grunggaadzilla you too badmind old fart alkaline is the king of dancehall and that ago mad you 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭”.

“Di king of di toilet 🚽😂😅🤣,” was Bounty’s mocking response.

In May last year, Bounty Killer declared that Alkaline was not worthy of his respect, after fans of the Formula artist demanded that he “big up” the Ardennite, and talk about his newly-released Top Prize album, in his posts.

“They are just upset that I don’t rate them brawta artiste…,” Bounty had stated mockingly back then, in response to the demands.
