Juggla Talks Controversial Single ‘The Confrontation’
Dancehall artist Juggla believes that his controversial single, The Confrontation, which is a stark honest portrayal from a male’s perspective of a female partner’s infidelity, is now firmly a part of dancehall pop culture.
“The song really caused a lot of discussion online, among the females because it is an honest song about how a man who has been betrayed feels about his girl’s infidelity, the crazy thoughts that runs through a man’s head: violence, taking back gifts, ‘jackets’, revenge….this one was inspired by true events and a moment of madness,” Juggla said.
“Because of the nature of dancehall, and our society, which is obsessed with being macho. Men don’t talk about how they are hurt emotionally by women, or admit to any weaknesses…it is like a story that has never been told and a lot of female fans have come up to me to say that.”
The single, with visuals shot by Shervel the Sheep, has racked up over 385,000 views so far and grew his subscriber base by almost 300 per cent. The song also enjoyed a great run on social-media platform Tiktok, and its success has inspired him to get a TikTok account. “It is my biggest song so far,” Juggla, whose given name is Sheldon Henry.
Juggla was a runner-up in the 2010 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition. He has been enjoying a resurgence in terms of his career.
He performed at a club show in Texas on July 3rd and IS confirmed for another major show in Connecticut on September 4th. He has a number of spot dates in clubs in the USA.
