Popcaan, Burna Boy Hail Former Miss World On Their New Song ‘Toni-Ann Singh’
Dancehall deejay Popcaan has teamed up with Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy on the track T.A.S. (Toni-Ann Singh), released today (July 7). The metaphoric song appears to be a romantic gesture to the former Miss World title holder amid strong dating rumors between her, and the Unruly Boss.
The song, produced and co-written by Jamaican producers Andrew ‘Anju Blaxx’ Myrie and Amilcar ‘Cobe’ Smith, appears on Burna Boy’s latest album, Love, Damini.
In its chorus, a female love interest is compared to the beauty of Singh, as Popcaan, whose given name is Andrae Sutherland, sings:
“Gyal you pretty like Toni-Ann Singh (Weh)
You me angel without the two wings, yeah
Whine your waist me darling (Yeh)
Let me feel like a love me falling, yeah
Bend over pon the railing
Badman a turn you like a steering wheel
Me love you like me savings, yeah, yeah (Weh)”
The dating rumors between the two St. Thomas natives have definitely turned up exponentially. Singh, who was the longest-serving Miss World in history made two IG story reposts of the song that she was tagged in.
Social media influencer Rushane ‘Rush Cam’ Campbell noted that this was now a new standard in dating, and he will not be accepting less.
“If you not naming the song RushCam, I doe want it 🥲 ,” he captioned his story post.
The dating rumors began when the Fall In Love deejay brought the beauty queen along with him to Grenada, where he was headlining the NNP’s Youth Rally back in June.
Singh subsequently posted a reel of them making soup outside.
Meanwhile, Popcaan seems to be in better spirits after being detained in London earlier this week, and the ensuing threats of a lawsuit against Jamaican police over the release of potentially “defamatory” information.
On Thursday, he was spotted celebrating the album’s release with Burna Boy and rapper Offset in the UK.
Love, Damini is Burna Boy’s sixth body of work, which features the already released songs Last Last and Kilometer. The album comes 9 years after Burna’s debut album L.I.F.E, which was followed by On A Spaceship, Outside, the Grammy-nominated African Giant, and the Grammy-winning Twice as Tall.
