Sean Paul, Shenseea & Gwen Stefani Host Nostalgic House Party In ‘Light My Fire’: Watch
Sean Paul has released the music video for Light My Fire which features American pop icon and former No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani alongside Jamaican star Shenseea. The visuals, directed by Quinn Wilson, were preceded by a vibrant, tropical-themed lyric video on June 22, and have done justice to the title of his latest studio album, Scorcha.
Produced by KoOoLkOjAk, AC, and Jason ‘Jigzag’ Henriques, the lovers-rock infused single features Sean Paul’s timeless Dancehall sound, Stefani’s rich, raspy tone on the chorus, and Shenseea’s melodic singjay prowess for the second verse.
The music video takes viewers to an indie and dancehall-themed house party with Stefani portrayed as the rocksteady boss and Shenseea as the dancehall diva. The vibe remains dynamic throughout with colorful looks, food, old-school dancing, and mingling.
“Light My Fire is an epic dream come through,” Sean said in a release. “I’ve been a fan of Gwen Stefani forever and Shenseea – I am so proud of all she’s accomplished in such a short time. ‘Light My Fire’ is a big bad lovers rock song and we had to represent it with a big bad video. We went retro on the attire in the video and basically getting ready to party and some lovers rocking. It’s a vibe we hope everyone gets when they listen to the track – feel good and party lovers rock style.”
Added Shenseea: “I feel honored to be tapped by two legends for this collaboration, the whole process was exciting and collaborative – can’t wait for our fans to enjoy the video!”
Since the song’s release, dancehall fans have been expressing their approval for Shenseea and Sean Paul’s third collaboration—their first being Rolling, released in 2017, and their most recent, Lying If I Call it Love, in 2022.
Excitement also surrounded Gwen Stefani being featured on the track. Stefani has long been praised for being a vocal supporter of Jamaica’s culture, particularly reggae and dancehall music, having worked with numerous Jamaican artists in the past such as Lady Saw, Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley and Bounty Killer.
The music video’s release marks another milestone in Scorcha‘s journey—Sean Paul and Gwen are set to perform the single tonight on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Gimme the Light singer is also on a headline European tour and is slated to accompany American rapper and singer, Pitbull on his upcoming ‘Can’t Stop Us Now’ US tour.
