Bogdanovich Apologizes To Bounty Killer For Ishawna’s “Disrespectful Behaviour” At Reggae Sumfest 2022
Chairman of Downsound Entertainment Joe Bogdanovich has described Ishawna’s conduct on night one of Reggae Sumfest Concert Night One, in which she mimicked a taboo sex act involving a cardboard cut-out of Bounty Killer as “disrespectful and inexcuseable”.
In a statement on Monday, Bogdanovich, who acquired the Reggae Sumfest brand in 2016, noted that the Equal Rights artist had incorporated words and images that were insulting and demeaning, and that the organisers of the festival were unaware of what she was up to.
“Sumfest does not condone performances that insult or denigrate other artistes or individuals. This sort of behaviour is strictly prohibited under Sumfest’s policy and the agreements between Downsound and our artistes,” he noted in the release.
“As a practical matter, we can’t control what an artiste does when they get onstage. In this case we had no advance knowledge as to what was to take place. The behaviour was disrespectful and inexcuseable and for that we sincerely apologise to Bounty Killer for any offence caused,” it added.
“We love and respect Rodney Pryce on a personal and professional level and look forward to hosting him again at Reggae Sumfest.”
Since the event, there have been multiple accusations by some music fans and commentators that Sumfest organisers had conspired with Ishawna to orchestrate the performance.
In addition, on Monday morning Bounty Killer had expressed discomfort that people had laughed when Ishawna insulted him on what was a global stage.
Many people were expecting Bounty to respond to Ishawna on Night Two, but the Warlord acted as if he were oblivious to her shenanigans and focused on ensuring a well-delivered tribute to legendary Dancehall producer Dave Kelly.
This morning, the Warlord noted on his Instagram page that he did not respond to Ishawna at the event as he was older, more mature and wiser, and knew he had a certain standard to maintain, but nevertheless lashed Ishawna, in a ruthless fashion, while describing her conduct as a desperate act.
“We Jamaicans likes to take bad things and make jokes but when bad things happens do we find it funny? Thanks to growth and maturity, so at this age I only Act and not React. Jamaicans y’all says how we rate the general for his contributions to the poor and the development of other artiste etc. Then y’ll sat there laughing how a little fly b-tty pissen tail dancehall mattress witch styled me right here a Jamaica who claimed them love and rate me. That’s why I had ntn to say I leave y’all to God and Time away with my ignorance and welcome my intellect just watch tha style yah👈🏿
