Minister Marion Hall, the former Queen of Dancehall Lady Saw, says she’s indifferent about Spice’s recent official crowning as Queen Of Dancehall, as she will claim the ultimate crown, which is in Heaven.

“It’s none of my business. I’m no longer apart of that scene. I’m not interested in that. We’re all queens and a queen sits high. My crown is in Heaven,” Hall, 53, told DancehallMag.

Spice, 39, whose real name is Grace Hamilton, was crowned on Night 1 of Reggae Sumfest 2022 by DownSound Entertainment’s CEO Josef Bogdanovich.  As Lady Saw, Hall held the title for quite some time before converting to Christianity in 2015.

The Woman Wi Name singer added that she still hopes the women in Dancehall will clean up their lyrics.

“What I pray for my sisters in Dancehall is to move away from profanity and do uplifting songs. If Dancehall is what makes them happy, then so be it—but I would love to see them doing what is needed to uplift the society,” she said.

Earlier this year, there was a virtual war of words after the Dancehall singer turned Minister implored Spice, Shenseea and Jada Kingdom to stop their “race to hell.”

According to Hall, she had to speak out as, being the pioneer of slackness, she felt tormented that the women were taking lewdness to the extreme and disgracing themselves.  Her comments came in the wake of Shenseea’s controversial song titled Lick and its accompanying music video.

This did not resonate well, especially with Spice, who hosted an Instagram Live to give a very lengthy clap back—referring to Hall as a hypocrite and labeling her as “badmind.”

Since then, all the women have been focusing on their careers. Hall is gearing up for several shows within the diaspora, and revealed that she was contacted by the promoters of Sting to be on this year’s staging.

She also said the DownSound team had reached out to her regarding Sumfest.

“Sumfest wanted me to do a gospel night, and Sting is calling me, but Skatta said you know this is a Dancehall show and we’ll always have a place for you. Not that I wouldn’t go, because when Jesus came he walked among the Gentiles. He didn’t say when you’re not a sinner you don’t need salvation,” she said.

Hall further said anything is possible in the future.

“Anywhere the Lord sends me I’ll go. I’ll have to pray about certain things because if you’re not shoot up in prayer and fasting then territorial demons can get you so you have to go with the whole Ephesians 6,” she said.
