Shenseea’s A&R Claims Producer Dr. Luke Blocked Her From Anitta’s Deluxe Album
Donny “Dizzy” Flores, CEO of We Good LLC, an A&R services company, went to bat for Jamaican singer Shenseea on Instagram, claiming that producer Dr. Luke didn’t want her on a song that was to appear on Anitta’s newly released Version Of Me (Deluxe).
However, Dizzy’s outburst is being described as “unprofessional and corny” by rapper-producer LunchMoney Lewis, one of the writers of the shelved track.
In the since-edited Instagram post, Dizzy apologized to disappointed fans and called out Dr. Luke and his publishing company Prescription Songs for “not wanting” Shenseea on the song with the popular Brazillian singer.
“Sorry to @shenseea fans that she was not on the album, @thedoctorluke @rxsongs did not want her on the song,” Dizzy wrote, earlier today.
Dr. Luke, who was entangled in an infamous legal battle with singer Kesha over allegations of sexual assault, has dozens of hit songs to his credit including Doja Cat’s Say So, Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now, Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger, The Weeknd’s Starboy, Lizzo’s Juice, and most recently Nicki Minaj’s Super Freaky Girl.
In his Instagram post, Dizzy praised Anitta and her manager Brandon Silverstein, CEO of S10 Entertainment—to which Shenseea recently inked a publishing deal—for opting to remove the song from the deluxe album entirely, rather than replace Shenseea on the track.
He also hinted that the song or another collaboration between the two singers may still happen.
“Thanks to a real one @anitta and @brandonsilv who decided to take the song completely off instead of replacing her. @shenseea X @anitta coming soon though. God is good. We good,” Dizzy added.
However, rapper-producer LunchMoney Lewis—who identified himself as a writer on the shelved Shenseea/Anitta collab—has disagreed with Dizzy’s statements on the ‘Gram, and described them as “unprofessional and corny”.
“I’m on the song and that’s not why it didn’t come out … let’s be professional,” wrote Lewis, who is also credited on Nicki Minaj’s Super Freaky Girl, which just debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100.
Dizzy, who also represents Rvssian and DJ Snake, responded, “@lunchiebaby You have nothing to do with this my brother it’s all love with you. Enjoy your first number one congratulations, we good he know what he did, all good Just the fire we needed god is good.”
Lewis continued to express his feelings on the matter. “@dizzycleanface I’m writer on the song. This is very unprofessional and corny,” he said before, adding “🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢” emojis.
Dr. Luke and Shenseea’s team have a history.
The producer, whose real name is Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, was credited on Shenseea’s R U That collab with rapper 21 Savage, which appeared on her debut album, Alpha, earlier this year.
During a virtual session with her Shenyengz in June, one fan inquired why R U That was seemingly prioritized to receive a music video, above all the other tracks on the album. “Was not my decision. That’s why,” Shenseea responded.
“As I said, the way how this album came out, majority of the sh-t that I personally did not want, happened. That’s why I said it was such a turnoff for me.”
Anitta’s Versions of Me (Deluxe), which was released today (August 26) features the 15 original tracks from the Versions of Me studio album, along with five new tracks with star-studded collaborations comprising Missy Elliott, Maluma, A$AP Ferg, Nicky Jam, HARV, L7NNON, Maffio, MC Pedrinho, Pedro Sampaio and Dadju.
