Shab Don’s Bail Application Postponed
Dancehall producer Linval “Shab Don” Thompson Jr will have to wait until September 26th to find out if he will be granted bail when he next appears in the St James Parish Court.
The producer is facing three counts of murder and is also accused of breaching the Corruption Prevention Act (bribery).
“September 26th is the next court date for the murder case, the next date for the bribery case is November 28th,” Donahue Martin, attorney-at-law representing the accused, told DancehallMag.
When he appeared in court in July on behalf of his client in the murder case, Martin had requested a copy of the scene-of-crime statement and a compact disc. He declined any further comment on the case.
The attorney has maintained his client’s innocence throughout the proceedings, arguing that the claims are either malicious or erroneous in nature. Thompson Jr. last appeared in court on the murder charges on August 22.
Shab Don is charged for the shooting deaths of 27-year-old Chadwell Frazer, otherwise called ‘Bomb Brain’ or ‘Chad’; 24-year-old Chamario ‘Chippy’ Calvin; and 26-year-old Toniann ‘Too Fly’ Reid.
They were shot dead at a birthday party on Marl Road in Rose Heights on May 25.
Thompson Jr is also being represented by Tom Tavares-Finson QC.
Thompson Jr was arrested by police in June during a targeted operation in the St Catherine South Police Division following preliminary investigations into several incidents.
He was freed of gun-related charges on April 7, however, he is accused of offering a police officer $2 million to get rid of an illegal gun in a case he had been previously charged with. He was charged with a breach of the Corruption Prevention Act, Section 14, Subsection 2, which is considered a greater offense than attempted bribery.
Thompson Jr is scheduled to go on trial on a bribery charge in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on November 28.
