Dexta Daps Addresses “Fake Fans” Trying To Tarnish His Name, Career
A week after a woman attempted to plant a panty on his head during a performance in the Cayman Islands, Dexta Daps has addressed the issue of “fake fans” trying to tarnish his name and his career, by using sordid onstage antics.
During a performance in Bridgeport Connecticut, the Call Me If artist paused to address his detractors, something he admitted was uncharacteristic of him, as usually, he would let it pass.
In making it clear that he was only interested in women, the Seaview Gardens native also implicitly addressed the furore which unfolded several months ago, after it was widely rumoured that a women on whom he gyrated onstage at a concert was a trans-sexual, an accusation which later turned out to be false.
“Mi nuh waan seh too much, caw di vibes right an wi nuh waan kill di vibes right? Pree dis: mi si some people a falla mi up fram wah day. Mi a guh jus sehe weh mi feel bout it. Right yah suh mi waa seh it. Yuh si me, mi is neva di yute fi try disrespect mi fans dem. But, some people are not fans. Dem come here fi disrespect wi.. There is no fan of mine weh a guh do some tings weh mi si some people a try. Me know what is a fan,” Dexta declared.
“Me know what is a fan. Mi nuh waan nobaddy try trick me and come pretend certain way fi come try style mi career and try put certain ting pon mi name… Di world know me and know who me is, right? Suh mi don’t waan dem try style mi ting. Because mi don’t waan revert to disrespecting nobaddy weh come fi disrespect mi… A music mi come fi do an mi nuh waan get wild caw oonu know mi head sick to don’t it? An mi no waan get wild,” he emphasized to cheers from his mainly female audience.
He continued: “Suh mi a beg oonu please, di people dem weh feel like dem come fi disrespect; just stay quiet. Let di mi fans dem enjoy mi show dem… caw mi nuh waan do nuttn crazy enuh. Everybaddy know seh me represent fi di woman dem an dem fat vagina. A weh dem a try do mi G,” he said turning to this DJ. “How dema try guh roun mi ting suh? Dem nuh know seh a woman mi ting deh?” he added as he segued into his hit song Bring it to the Owner.
Two weekends ago, during the Cayman show a woman had scramble onstage, tapped him on the shoulder, and then tried to plant a yellow panty on his head. However, the Calabar High School old boy had subverted the “attack” and the woman was muscled offstage by security personnel.
The Cayman incident though, was not the first time in which panties were thrown at the Calabar High School old boy, as in July 2019, in Antigua, in the midst of a performance of his No Underwear hit song, a huge purple panty was hurled onto the stage, missing his head by inches before falling to the ground.
A week ago after the Caymanian panty incident, Irie FM disc jockey, DJ Amber, had expressed outrage about the matter and implored Dexta to stop allowing random women onstage to gyrate with him, at stage shows.
In expressing dismay at the behaviour of the panty-wielding woman, Amber had said that based on the underwear incident, Dexta Daps should stop inviting women on stage to gyrate on him, as he ought to recognise by this, that he was being victimised by some of the very women he has been attempting to entertain.
Amber had also said that the No Underwear artiste, should be very circumspect and perhaps hire dancers whom he knows personally, to dance with him at the shows, as, there are also risks of transvestites tricking him into gyrating on them, which would “not be good for Dancehall”.
