Beenie Man Postpones UK Show Over Delayed Work Visa
King of the Dancehall Beenie Man will not be performing in London on Thursday night, as originally planned, because he was not granted his work visa in time despite, according to him, his efforts to expedite the process.
The Jamaican deejay took to social media this morning to notify fans, who had expected to see him at Eventim Apollo in London, that he suspects the 12 days of mourning for the late Queen of England might be the cause of the delay.
“We had to reschedule the event. The embassy in Jamaica is experiencing a backlog due to the 12 days of mourning for the Queen. This has caused a significant delay in the issuance of the work visa,” his first Tweet read.

The concert has been pushed back to November 27.
“All tickets will remain valid & we sincerely hope this hasn’t caused any disruption to your diaries,” Beenie said.
The 50-year-old, whose given name is Moses Davis, further explained that fellow acts for the heavily advertised show are experiencing a similar dilemma.
“I would not be able to work the event. Other supporting acts did not receive their visa on time either,” he explained. “It has been very chaotic since the passing of the queen. We did not believe we were able to execute the event as planned. As such, the next best thing to do was to reschedule.”

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on September 8, the government of Jamaica announced a period of mourning to honor her legacy which ended on Monday (September 19) when she was buried. This was in keeping with a similar protocol in the UK.
Beenie said he had pulled out all the stops for the highly anticipated show. However, he refused to disobey the regulations.
“Unfortunately, we still need a work visa to perform in the UK. My Team and I had everything planned and organized. However, I believe due to the Queen’s passing, the mourning period, and the administrative changes, it has caused a delay in the issuance of the visa.”

“We expedited the process, we made contact with the embassy, we were told to give it until Tuesday, still a delay. If I came to the UK and performed, I would be deported or locked up. These things are out of my control. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿” he concluded.

In the meantime, eager fans have left messages of reassurance, despite the rain on their parade.
“I was so looking forward to this show but we understand you don’t have control over these things as you said next date will be better for us, big up @KingBeenieMan more blessings 🙏🏽,” @zookid4 said on Twitter.
“Please ensure you perform Girls Prayer and Gimme Gimme,” added @Influential_guy.
