Kranium: “I’ve Never Had Curry Goat In My Life, And I’m Jamaican”
Montego Bay native Kranium admitted to never ever having tried one of Jamaica’s signature dishes; curry goat. Apparently, the idea of eating “goat” doesn’t sit well with the Dancehall artist.
In interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Remi Burgz, the Gal Policy singer discussed his food habits while on tour. Though he’s from Yaad, he isn’t one bit concerned about sourcing the local delicacy abroad. “I’ve never had curry goat in my life, and I’m Jamaican,” he said. “I just don’t like how goat sound.”
Interestingly, the only thing Kranium has to have in his rider is ketchup. “I love ketchup. I have to have it with everything,” he said.
“When I was on tour, the last time I was on tour, all I asked for on my rider was ketchup. I need it for everything. I have to have ketchup with rice and peas and chicken. Everything”.
‘Goat’ aside, the Nobody Has To Know singer knows his way around the kitchen and how to whip up other ‘curry’ dishes.
Earlier in March, he shared a clip, dubbed, “Kranium in the kitchen” taking Instagram followers through “a major prep” of curried shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn, and fried plantains.
In another post last September he was back at it again, showing folks how to deep-fry fish “original style” on an outdoor fire stove.
Kranium’s latest release is Without You featuring Queen Naija, an Afrobeat-infused love song, which Kranium says reflects “a different side of me” and is “more like a love vibe.”
BBC 1Xtra’s Remi Burgz pressed the singer about his own love life, asking whether he was in love now.
Kranium said: “In love? Me don’t know about that. I’m more of a single’ish guy. Single’ish meaning I’m in a situation but I’m not in a situation but I’m always in a situation [laughs]”.
Without You is one of eight songs featured on his forthcoming EP, In Too Deep.
