WizKid, Shenseea & Skillibeng’s ‘Slip N Slide’ Debuts On Billboard Afrobeats Songs Chart
Slip N Slide, a collab between WizKid, Shenseea and Skillibeng, has debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart.
The song appears on the Nigerian singer’s latest album More Love Less Ego, which debuted at No. 59 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 16 on the UK Albums chart. Released on November 11 2022, the album has sold 13,000 units during its first week of release in the US.
Slip N Slide was produced by Nigerian P2J, who previously worked with Beyoncé, Skip Marley, Burna Boy, and several others.
On Spotify, the track has over 1 million streams, while the official YouTube audio has under 400,000 views.
It was the first Afrobeats collaboration for Skillibeng, while Shenseea previously worked with Fireboy DML and Chris Brown on Diana, which spent two weeks on the Afrobeats Song chart, where it peaked at No. 17.
Shenseea, who signed to RCA Records last year, and Skillibeng, who signed to Interscope Records in 2019, also collaborated on Rain, which was released in July.
They are both nominated for Best Caribbean Act at the upcoming MOBO Awards.
Meanwhile, WizKid, 31, recently told the Guardian that, after watching the Bob Marley play Get Up, Stand Up in the UK, his aim was to make his music live forever and become an icon whose name lives on, similar to that of the Jamaican legend.
“I was like: ‘Yo, we’re watching a Bob Marley play and this guy died decades ago.’ I didn’t even know that he died at 36. He did so much at a young age. It just reaffirms what I do; I have to keep taking this to the highest heights. Because I know one day they’re definitely going to create a play about me,” he said.
More Love Less Ego featured 13 tracks and was released via Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records.
2 Sugar with Ayra Starr is currently at No. 5 on the Afrobeats chart, the highest charting position for any song on the album.
