Agent Sasco, Wife Nicole Campbell To Be Appointed ‘Grow Smart, Eat Smart’ Ambassadors For Jamaica
Dancehall star Agent Sasco, and his wife Nicole Campbell, have been tipped to be appointed ‘Grow Smart, Eat Smart’ ambassadors for Jamaica.
Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. announced plans to co-opt the couple to the national agriculture promotion campaign, after touring their 20-acre Mulberry Valley Estate eco and agri-tourism property in Friendship Gap, St. Mary, on Thursday.
Describing the couple as innovators, the Minister went on to declare Mulberry Valley Estate “a magical place” and a reflection of sustainable agriculture and tourism, which Jamaica needs.
“Salute to you Agent Sasco, Nicole Mclaren Campbell and your team for being superhost to our Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and agencies… Thank you for inviting us to share in your vision for this amazing estate. Our country welcomes your investment, innovation and creativity,” the Minister stated on Instagram.
“We support your effort to carve out a unique space in the dynamic and ever-evolving agricultural sector. Your hard work is already showing gains and I look forward to the bright future of the Mulberry Valley Estates. We welcome you as a Grow Smart, Eat Smart Ambassador and invite you to contribute to improvements in production through greater efficiency,” he added.
Continued Charles Jr in a separate post: “I was proud to witness the innovative work being done on the farm to build an Agro Eco Tourism experience to be rivalled. The Mulberry Valley Estate is an embodiment of the Grow Smart, Eat Smart national campaign and I look forward to seeing Sasco’s vision coming to life and contributing to the agricultural sector.
During the tour, which was led by Agent Sasco, the Minister said he was impressed with the property’s sustainable features, and opportunities for both agriculture and tourism.
“I am more than convinced that Jamaica needs this magical Mulberry Valley Estate. Agriculture is a multidimensional, evolving, interconnected marketplace, and your vision is a reflection of our drive to really expose to the world all that Jamaica has to offer,” the Minister said.
According to Agent Sasco, his vision for Mulberry Estate is to create a space where “people come to experience nature and agriculture in a different way”.
He also explained that a core focus is the commercial cultivation of mulberries, a fruit he said has the potential to create value-added products such as wines and preserves.
“The Mulberry project is a pilot… to explore the growth of mulberries as a commercial crop in Jamaica [as] mulberry is a super food,” the Winning Right Now artiste explained in a media interview.
Sasco also said that the property will not be open to the public as yet, until he completes the construction of accommodations.
“We envision that to be about a year from now; [it] will be a three-bedroom [unit] on the hillside; everyone gets their own pool, and that sort of thing,” he told the Jamaica Information Service.
Sasco was serenaded by his fans and some of his Camperdown High School mates after sharing photos of the tour and declaring that: “today was a really good day!”
“Sasco is such a inspiration….I am always proud of the work, the music and whatever he puts his hand to, it always grow with potential and perfection…..proud a yuh pappa.
